125-200cc Oring chain on CR125

    I bought an RK oring chain to replace the stock non-oring chain on my CR125. When I was passing it through the OE lower chain guide it seemed a very tight fit. So tight that I figured the WR must come with a different chain guide. However, after checking the parts book there is only one part number for both CR/WR125's. :excuseme:

    Can someone confirm if the WR's get a different chain guide (or inner rubber block)?

    Any other CR owners notice this tight fit with an oring chain?

    the oring chain is a bit bigger. also have you changed your gearing at all? im running a 52 on back and the stock unit is a 50. the 2 teeth i added required me to get a new chain, when i cut it it was just long enough and rubbed my guige a bit. it quit after a ride.

    also make sure your guide bolt is not hitting your sprocket, i ran into this as well and just put a washer on the bolt. i have a BRP unit though.

    Thanks for the heads-up on the bolts. I will check that out.

    Yeah, I'm running a 52T Ironman sprocket now. The stock guide is a snug fit on the chain's side plates but I think after one ride the side plates will grind their final path. Just spinning the rear wheel a few times has freed it up a bit. :thumbsup:

    Some o-ring chains are wider than others. You can always get the folding enduro type chain guide and eliminate all the rubbing issues. Be careful of the rubbing as it will rub the pis down and you can loose the master clip.

    My 02 WR250 had the CR style chain guide. When I replaced the guide block and put a new o-ring on it rubbed bad. Five miles down the trail is had shaved the guide to fit and was fine. Just don't roll the bike backwards before that first few miles.
