• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Overheating and overflow bottle

tr-downunder

Husqvarna
AA Class
Won't go into detail of over heating as this has been covered off already.
After burping the system I noticed there was no water in the overflow bottle. Went to top up the system and checked the hoses and noticed the poor design of the hose to the bottle.
Bends at a right angle and is nearly completely kinked in half were it fits to the bottle almost cutting off the flow.
Took the bottle out and tried to re rout the hose but no good.
Prob needs a 90deg plastic fitting connected to the end of the hose and to the bottle to sort it.
Anyone else noticed this? Maybe check yours befor disaster!!

Mine was kinked in exactly the same way. I decided it was because the hose was too short and also the hose is just too thin so it kinks easily right where it makes that 90deg turn. I found some thicker fuel line hose with the same inner diameter and cut a piece a bit longer than the original. Stuck it on with a couple of hose clamps. No more kink. I'm not sure if the kink in the hose was actually preventing the the coolant from moving back and forth between the radiator and the overflow bottle, but putting that longer/thicker hose on there gives me peace of mind anyway!

Mines not kinked but has the beginnings of a kink. The hose can be lengthened and rerouted to prevent this, thanks- will add to my list.:)

THANKS, yesterday I was checking mine and your advise is correct, 90 degrees angle makes dificult coolant flow correctly to radiator. I saw empty overflow bottle, fill it and to see what happens. I will change the hose as soon as I see liquid is blocked.
what I surprise most is to get radiator tap out to fill directly the radiator; someone has a treak to be able to extract the tap in order to refill radiator.. ??. thanks guys

My overflow bottle split through the bottom seam where the self-tapping screw holds it to the front facia panel

I think it was the italian guy who posted in this formum (haven't seen him posting for quite a while) had the same issue with his and I think he got a new overflow bottle under warranty. I thought I saw some seepage from mine too but it stopped.. maybe the coolant level is below the screw.

Yep. I've run a bit of silicone along the seam in that area.

I've received the new bottle, l repaired the old one with epoxy, the used velcro to attach it to the facia
I'll velcro the new bottle rather than use the screw
Also, l'll use the "water-less" coolant, see if that better cools the motor, possibly even removing the detonation at approx 4,500rpmm
