Paint code

I know I have seen this posted somewhere for the silver frame paint, But I am wondering If anyone has the paint code for the white frames. Trying to lift a good piece off to match is not very likely, and the nearest place to get pain mixed is a 1 hr drive. any help would be great.

About six or more months ago someone had given me the paint code for BASF paint systems for the white frames. I can relate to your problem. I want to paint the frames for 84 250WR,
83 250CR, and an 86 400WR. The 83 250CR is the only one in original paint, the others have been repainted with substandard paint. I do not know if BASF can be cross referenced with PPG and DuPont. PPG is my personal preference. If I can find that post I will update with the code

I'm the one that posted the BASF colors. These chip numbers can be mixed in base coat/clear coat and single stage paint qualities from an authorized car paint supplier.
Glasurit, RM and Limco paints are the brands of paint that they can be mixed in.
On a side note, the Caswell coating is holding up great in my '84 plastic tank. No bubbling so far after 6 months with gas in it.

"The white I use is Colormax Solid Chip number SA 003.50, Husky Red I use is SR 001.50, and one of the blues is SB 232.20.
These can be found at any BASF paint suppliers in the qualities listad above. Bring in your parts and they can show you the chips to match the codes.
I just coated the inside of my '84 tank and painted it. I'll be racing the bike this year and will report back as to how it's holding up".

I just followed their directions and it's been about 6 months with gas in the tank, and no paint peeling issues so far.

It is important to use a flex agent painting plastic unless you are using a known paint like the PPG Deltron and Concept I will be using. Flexible primer is important as well. Systems used to paint urethane bumpers will work as long as an adhesion promoter is used on the plastic

I coud'nt agree more with jimspac. It is extremely important to follow all of the paint manufacturers instructions on their plastic refinishing systems. Any good auto paint store can provide the paint manufacturers detailed instructions for free. I know, I was a paint manufacturers rep for 24 years, and am familiar with all of the auto paints out there.

Yeah, that was a concern. The guy who is doing my paint has done several restos, and has advised me of this. He will be using PPG products and all the appropriate additives. The biggest quest will be getting a good color match, the frame and forks will most likely be powder coated though.
