panels not aligned after disassembly

the panels on my 630 are not aligned properly. there is a very big gap between the tank and seat and the two rear white side panels. and in order to attach the seat I almost have to bow it. I have a video uploading to YouTube right now in the meantime here is a short list before it is processed and uploaded and I can post a link

things I did in this disassembly:
Leo Vince 2 into 1 exhaust
installed rear subframe braces
installed JD tuner

things removed in this disassembly summary:
tank
side panels
seat
passenger pegs( not reinstalled. used shorter bolts)
original exhaust

I'd take of the side panels and the seat and make sure the tank is seated correctly.

Stupid question, but you don't have the JD Tuner under the seat so that it is keeping it from going down all the way, do you? Try to see if the seat to frame cushions are actually making contact. Maybe put some tape with the sticky side up in the areas of contact, install the seat, and see what is stuck to the seat after it is removed.

Are you sure you have the two little tabs (which are under the seat, part of the seat pan) under the receiver brackets/tabs (which are part of the subframe)? Sounds a silly question, I know, but in the pic it looks like this may be part of the issue.

It was in the way at first then I moved it. The middle cushions do not make contact. I can see then hovering under the gap

I don't see how i can put it on any other way? Maybe I'm wrong?

It's actually kind of easy to have the front part of the seat slid onto its receiver and not get the two tabs under their receivers- and the back will still click down. I bend over and actually look (and have to wiggle it) to make sure my tabs are sliding home properly.

On the 610 the tank sit on 2 pins that go up into the tank at the rear or near the seat

In the vid it looks a lot like the tank isn't sitting down on those two pins per 1lunger. As I recall, you have to put the tank on at just the right angle to get the pins engaged. I don't remember if the back goes first, or the front. The back as I recall.

I had the same problem after my dealer fixed my broken subframe. On reassembly he incorrectly placed the rear latch assembly on top of the housing, rather than underneath/within it, so it was sitting an inch too high.

Same way on my 310. If you don't get it right, then the tank rides up on them and sits high. I think the OP should take everything back off and make sure the tank is on right first, then install the side panels. After that, if it still does not work, then he is either not sliding the seat forward and under the frame tabs correctly, or there is something under the seat keeping it from sitting down all the way. From the video, however, it appears the tank is sitting too high.

I have had the same thing happen as in the first pic.
It was the seat not under the lugs.

Yep, the back of the tank needs to be seated on the pins first before bolting down the front.

Yes. I went back and indeed this was the case. The space is lessened now by quite a bit. Thanks all of you. This forum really helps my blood pressure
