I've been trying to sell our two motards for a a couple of months now, and all I've gotten are lowballers and trade offers for random cruisers, pickup trucks, etc. I'd really like to get the money out of the 510, so I was thinking about parting it out. The bike is a 2006 510 SMR...well maintained...have everything to sell (well I might save the clamps and bars for my new TXC 250). (pic below)

Has anyone had any luck parting out a Husky? Since the market is smaller, I'm concerned about getting the engine and frame sold. There is obviously no reason to take it apart if those things can't be sold. So, has anyone done this, and if so, what were your most productive sites to advertise on? Thanks!

In my opinion, it would be a shame to part out a bike that nice. I parted out a 360 a few years back and barely got half the value of the bike. Once you put a bullet in that 510, there's no turning back.

It's a bit of a shame when nice bikes get parted out.... Sometimes you can get decent $$ doing it that way, but it's a PITA and timing is everything; You need desperate guys with money looking for the exact parts your selling at the time your selling them. Otherwise, you'll end up selling to guys just adding to their parts inventory.
The other thing to consider is that some parts will not likely sell at all, or you'll likely almost have to give them away; like swingarms, air boxes etc.

Yeah, I hate the idea of breaking it up. I know what you're saying about timing too...I rebuilt a R1 that I wrecked a few years ago and had a lot of parts leftover. I still have a bunch of them laying around.

I guess i'll just hang onto it and maybe try to sell it again later. My other option is to go the other way and add some more bling to it...I'm thinking about powdercoating the frame and maybe swingarm in red, white or black. How about that option? :)
