So my KTM riding buddy says to me today "Id Dump the husky for pennies on the dollar if I where you, your not gonna find parts for it soon"
have an 09wr300. He seems to think I wont find parts for it. Yet...the bike hasnt let me down in 1000's of miles of beating it up. Matter of fact it honestly seems to run stronger the harder I run it.I just replaced the top end and bearings all over. Thing just takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
I replied "yeah but all it ever is going to need is a top end and bearings" ...
"but what happens if you crash it and need an axel or what about the lack of aftermarket companies not making stuff for it." To that...I ndidnt have an answer.

I rode a 2010 Wr/Cr 300 all this year at the National Hare and hounds. But at king of the moto and Last dog Standing then it was a 2008 CR 165. Every time I needed a part Jeff at Halls had it. I have yet to be passed by a new Husky. Say what you want the Wr 300 really has not changed much in a long time Parts are out there and they interchange for years
Bearings can be purchased at a bearing company so do not worry Pistons are every where So just ride it and start saving because sooner or later you will want a new bike I am just hoping for a winning loto ticket

i dont race hard but i find what i need for 80s huskies, i think you are pretty safe especially since you have a two stroke. as far as aftermarket parts go, maybe your bike was designed right from the get go?
if you truly like the bike you can build up a small cache of spares, not a bad idea anyway so you dont miss a weekend of riding even if a part is only a week or two away to begin with.

I'll give you $500 for it. I may need spares in a decade or so.... Free yourself from all the anxiety man. Sell it today.

But srsly, what aftermarket issue is there? You have a big tank, hydro clutch, Lectron carb, seat concepts seat, skid plate, radiator guards, footpegs, aftermarket exhaust, etc. What addtl aftermarket do you need? I guess I could see wheels being a price problem not an availability problem. Wheel master or others would build you a durable set easily.

i ride older bikes and what i did was pick up the spares before i needed them or they became unavailable
really you only need to consider a spare set of plastics and don't lose too much sleep

while you are at it find a six speed gearbox
an early 250 would get you both gears and cases

Not to worry... The WR/Cr have been produced for so long that there are parts enough to probably out live me :P

There are plenty of aftermarket brands that produce and make parts. I'm also confident that the OEM parts will be available for a very long time for the enduro en cross bikes from husqvarna (bmw-husqvarna)

I'm more worried about my Nuda...only was 2 years in production when they pulled the plug out. It shares most of the components with the BMW F800GS but some parts are specially for the nuda (conrods, pistons, crank,...) We'll see. Will never give up my red and white huskies :)

You're friend isn't wrong, he just left out the cheesy alternatives. Terra and Nuda guys really got screwed on this deal, Terra especially. Husky 2st's will be golden for quite a while.

Well, with two old bergs and two huskies in the garage, all my bikes are orphans. I have had zero luck getting parts from a ktm dealer for the older bergs. I'm not expecting much from them in the way of husky parts either if they treat husky like the 10 year old bergs.

You can still get what you need for a Hodaka ace100. People are a bit reactionary on this topic. Also, this is the age of CNC and computer modeling. Anything oddball or "impossible to find" can also be had if you want it bad enough.
