I picked up another '86 430 Auto. It was hard not to.
This is a really nice one. It was owned by a former Husky dealer, who bought it new, then added a bunch of trick bits to it.

HP seat, HP pegs, Devol pipe and water pump guards... heck, even the tail light works!

It has been ridden, but not much. It runs like a top and shifts great.

    Thanks, oldbikedude.
    Can't wait to ride it.
Of course, it needed some servicing... the trans oil was sludge-like and the front brakes needed bleeding 3x times. But all is looking good.

It had white rad shrouds, which I changed out for the black shrouds which I like better. I have new 'Auto' decals ready to go on the shrouds.

    Thanks, guys.
Here's a front view. Unusual Acerbic front fender w/ blue nose, I've never seen one like it.
Headlight has a rock screen (husky products version?)
I put the 'Auto' decals on the shrouds. It's starting to look like a proper Auto now.

Has anyone seen a parts list w/ parts numbers for Husky Products?

The blue fender tip was an aftermarket add on I think. I never rode an auto...I want too. I bet it wouldn't suit my riding style but I still want one. :D

What the hell is goin on around here? Sure seems like a lot of folks on here have been making vintage purchases. Apparently I need another one! Awesome bike everfree. I'm diggin that rock screen over the headlight for sure and the hp seat cover. The autos are pretty weird to ride. I imagine one could get used to after a while.

Autos are easy to ride, just twist da throttle! More advanced and better than a Rekluse auto clutch actually. The Auto knows what gear to be in, it knows both crank and rear wheel speed and auto selects the right gear. Makes every rider faster and quicker, the nastier the terrain the better it does vs. a manual clutch bike. Old enduro riders I know of say it's the secret weapon.

model years 1976 - 1982 are 4 speed, 1985-1988 are 3 speed. I believe this is correct. The last Auto was built in 1988.

yep, Acerbis vented front fender... I wasn't sure myself.

    IMG_2078.JPG

Devol pipe guard. Haven't had one of those before... and no dents in the pipe at all!

    IMG_2079.JPG

It has a steering lock too, strange why Husky did that?

Come to the Northwest Husky Gathering in the fall and you can ride 'em.
Plenty of guys here on Cafe Husky own Autos. The Aussie's are especially fond of Autos.

I have a fender set with full blue wrap around. White would be cool.
