TE/TC Picking up a new te300

    If everything goes as planned I will be picking up a 2015 te300 Friday or Saturday. I just sold my 14 300 xc because I could not plate it. Hyde made a full one piece skid plate and pipe guard, Does anybody make something like that for the te? If not what seems to be the popular one everybody goes with? Also any specific brands for any of the other guards? I already ordered the bulletproof radiator guards? Last question, why is the fastway linkage guard like $250 but the slavens is only $79?

    I really like the TM Designs skid plates on the KTM/Husq. I have the Enduro Engineering on my KTM but wanted more coverage on the TC so I went with TM.

    Bullet Proof radiators guard are nice Good choice...I have them on both bikes. I also got the Bullet Proof swingarm guard for my TC. Well worth it

    Other guards to consider would be the Obie link guard. It's a LOT cheaper than the other linkage guards. I have the Slaven's link guard on my KTM and would have bought one for the TC also but they didn't/don't offer blue so I waited. While waiting I came across the Obie guard and am happy with it.

    The Fastway is a complete linkage with guard built in....it's bonus is that it has a special bushing that allows for height/length adjustments. I read and watched several review and decided against it since I don't need the backend dropped for ergonomic or stability.

    I just checked out that Obie link guard. That one is a lot different. Do like the Obie or the one from slavens. I the i am also going to get the tm skid plate. Any other must have guards?

    A Hyde bash for a 2015 KTM 300 XC will fit your bike. My 14 TE 300 has a Hyde bash plate on it.

    The Fastway guard was designed by Alan Stillwell suspension and is produced on the CNC equipment available onsite by "Fastway". It is adjustable to like 4 positions or can be set at the stock position / Length. All other positions the offset bushings offer are for like high speed desert racing etc. They will not only lower the suspension in the rear but that changes the rising rate of the suspension as well and this also affects the steering angle.

    He just came out with a self hooking block of plastic that is designed to protect it from damage itself and is available for all the new units and can be retrofit to the older units with the addition of 2 drilled/tapped, replaceable screws.

    I personally run the $89.00 "Slaven's Racing guard on my FE 501 and it works very well. I had accidentally bought 2 of them on a large order when trying to order the Blue anodized one for my FE 501. I mounted one of the 2 silver ones I received. I made one phone call and told him I accidently ended up getting 2 of them when I was trying to order the Blue Husky one with my order and I returned the identical second one I had bought. I now have a full refund credit for anything else I might need from them. I told them I didn't even want a refund and I would apply the credit to something later from the spare, extra one I returned.

    Before I had even done that he immediately sent me out a pair of the "Blue Anodized Husky Side plates" for my skid assembly, absolutely "free of charge" with the small retainer straps and screws. He said he realized he needed to update the website (which he did) to keep others from making the same mistake I had made.

    Talk about great service, I can't say enough about "Jeff Slaven's Racing". He has a huge inventory of hard to find stuff and knowledge base for the new Huskys and many other brands too. He has great prices and shares his knowledge better than any other retail vendor out there either over the phone and on about 10,000 Youtube video's he's produced as well.

    One of his more recent test evaluation videos was just on all the available billet brake pedal tips for the new KTM / Husky's and they did a review on about 10 different ones combined in just one video. Very informative stuff. He comes out with this kind of stuff all the time.

    The Slaven's guard is a very reasonably priced good protective piece for what it does. If it gets damaged, no big deal, At least it isn't going to be bending or snapping the end of the shock eyelet off and for the money it is easily replaced and the pieces are available separately.

    I run the "7602 Blue radiator guards" and they are very stout.

    I run a "P3 carbon fibre skid plate" and the "Husky Power Parts catalog swing arm protectors. That's the best $28.00 you can spend for the protection of the side of the swing arm.

    I picked up a TE300 about 2 weeks ago and got to run my first endure with it. I got the Gen III bullet proof guards. WOW probably won’t ever own other ones again, especially after using all the different rad guards jap bikes have to offer for the past couple years. (HORRIBLE).

    I got a P3 pipe guard and I like the stock skid plate which I believe is the six days hard parts plate. I love that I can undo it with the turn of the key and its off, and wash my bike. I did have to take the two nuts off that hold the ‘key’ to the skid plate to the frame. I put red Loctite on them because they were coming loose and the plate could probably come off easily if that happened. I also went with the OBIE guard because I am a big fan of the simplicity of it, and the fast that it keeps mud out of my linkage and the others are trapping it in. Not to mention the price!! So far I love it. I did put a dab of silicon on my dogbone to keep it from wearing. However when you have weight on the bike the obie doesn’t actually rub anything.


    Now I just have to get the suspension sorted out. Just don’t care for the harshness in the fork legs. Otherwise I am really getting used to the bike and loving the motor!

    I am heading tomorrow morning to pick up the bike and my first real ride will be Sunday. I'm still back and forth between the Obie or the slavens link guard. I ordered the bulletproof radiator guards already and I am probably going to order the bulletproof front and read disc guards tomorrow unless the dealer has something decent in stock. I'm also praying that the jetting is on point when I get it. I'm mechanical but I'm not very good with carbs and jetting.

    I got the first ride on the bike on Sunday. I absolutely love the bike. I need to change a few things on it to set it up for myself. I think I am.going to buy a set of fasst flexx bars for it. Also I am going to have to get it rejetted because it is really rich for the break in period. Anybody have any opinions on the map switch from slavens? Is it worth the $40 or is it something that I won't even notice?

    On my ktm 300 the difference between high and low on the map switch is very noticeable. Completely changes the bike.

    I guess the switch is cheap so I might as well try it out. What motor oil do you guys use?

    The TEs don't come with the map switch mounted on the front brake perch?

    So I took it out for a ride today and really got on it a bit. The bike is snappy but it we really seems to fall on its face as it revs out. The mid range is really lacking especially in 3rd. What can I do to help this out without sacrificing the low end grunt?

    That's really odd since the TC 250 has it. On my KTM I used the KTM power parts unit because it mounts to the front brake perch in place of the stock clamp, is very sturdy (metal instead of plastic), and gives me one less thing cluttering up my bars. It's the same unit that came stock on mt TC.
