250-500cc Pipe mount cushion

So on my 09 300 my aft pipe mount cushion broke. The rubber came off where it's bonded to the metal plate. So I ordered a new one. The pipe is about 1/8 away from the mount. So I draw the pipe in by tighting the two bolts. And the rubber popped off again. Sigh I find it hard to believe your pipe has to be perfectly straight or the mounts tear apart. So I'm thinking of drilling two holes in the cushion and riveting it together. Thoughts?

I had the same issue. I ended up drilled a hole through all 3 peices and just used a nut and bolt.
It doesn't scream 'factory look', but it works.

I'm going to use Monel countersunk rivets
