sorry if you break the boxes but yesterday to replace the pinion of the bike I did not watch the direction of fitting. I am attaching two pictures. Could you please tell me in which to be mounted? thanks
Pignon 1 Your front sprocket will make a lot of noise if you mount it the wrong way. Check this thread out: http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/jt-front-sprocket-issue.80708/
It's a bit hard to tell....but you could be quite right. The problem is that the original sprocket has raised shoulders on BOTH sides, the thicker one facing inwards towards the engine. Easy enough when replacing with an OEM sprocket... but aftermarket sprockets are often quite different.
Sorry mate. Just went and looked at my original CT sprocket. Flat on one side and shoulder on the other!! Too many oil cans??
So in the end as to be mounted? I have mounted as in figure two. My original pinion is like aftermarket. On one side is smooth, the other has the thickness that you see in Figure one. As I mounted makes no noise, and felt that mounted as shown in figure 1 remains too in the bike and was no longer aligned with the crown. someone could make me a picture of its original please?
My JT sprocket is mounted like Fig. 1. If you mount it like Fig 2 the chain will rub the end of the lower foot peg mounting bolt.
... I now had all assembled as in figure two. Today I did 40 km in distance and I think will do the trick. Help! everyone is telling her. Your pinion is mounted so Factory? or have you changed? And then anyway my original pinion is not like that of the video. On one side is completely smooth, the other has this thickening
I realized what had happened. even though I had fitted the sprocket in my bike I not touched the lives of the platform because I mounted the center stand. this has meant that the screw in question protruded less. Now I put the pinion as in Figure 1. Tomorrow I try the bike and I tell you.
Strangely though, I've got an OEM front cog that's flanged on BOTH sides, just like in the Youtube vid. High flange in, shallow flange out. And yes, the replacement JT on the shelf is smooth one side. Whatever, initial post edited to avoid confusion.
Are you sure you dont have a factory F650GS Twin sprocket? I know those have a flange on both sides and folks have bought them in error for our bikes and the BMW singles. Here is my stock and a JT.
