What a great engine, with a 2 quart oil capacity, classic Husky motor looks, and a whole lotta toughness! Post your mileage, what mileage you are shooting for and a pic.

2010 TE 450, currently close to 14,000 miles, shooting for 20,000 miles before top end rebuild.

those motors go clear back to 04. My 04 TE450...

A truly GREAT motor that is somewhat hampered by bad connecting rod / crank bearing failures from 08 and up (04-07 did not seem to have this issue but the 04 ate valves). Some go forever like yours some need crank / rod bearings way to quick. Other than that these motors are anvils. I have had several, zero issues on mine personally.

I built up a 06 TC250 with a ported head and 300 kit, one of my favorite off road 4 stroke motors.

Was in love with my 08 TXC450 before I rediscovered how fun a 125/165 was in the woods.

2010 TE 310 with 6000km. Valve clearance checks, good fuel, good oil, air and oil filters cleaned/replaced regularly. Pretty much no signs of engine wear yet.

I still have my 1996 WXC 410. Dang bike is totally awesome. It is geared to climb like a mountain goat and it will still do 80mph with out any issues. The suspension has pulled me out of near disasters. Last long ride, we traveld almost 100 miles. At 80 miles I had to swtch to reserve and when I got close to my pick up, which was over 15 miles, it coughed and sputtered and died. I only had to go another 20 feet. But that was good mileage for that long HARD ride.

Other than vibrations that single cam motor is brilliant. Had several, loved them all. An anvil for sure.
  6. '05 TE510 with around 20,000 miles, still runs like a champ!

'09 TE450 with around 6,000 miles, I know not real high miles...

The '05 was/is bullet proof, the same cannot be said about the EFI/electronics issues I've had with the '09, really just a bad ECU that was screwing with the EFI but it took way too long to figure out the intermittent issue.

4100 miles. Only repairs (other than broken parts) are clutch piston, water pump and valves.

My 07 TE450 just started to eat an inlet valve at 250 hours. Motor is currently apart getting all new valves and top end.

What were the symptoms? Did you run out of adjustment with the shims? Did the seat fail?

Took it in cause had overheated. Turned out the water pump impeller had fallen off. Had the valves checked at the same time. Was the fourth time. Each time had needed adjustment. Ran out of adustment. Clutch is sticky too. This probably normal.

My 08 TE510 has about 4000 mile now, piston and ring replaced about 2500 miles (not sure if water damaged or not) and intake valve failed last week. I have the head serviced by local machine shop and have not installed yet.

Started playing up starting, checked clearance and had none. Shimmed to correct clearance and went fine but got back from a weekend of riding and had zero clearance again. The right hand inlet valve had worn through the hard coating and started pulling into the head. All other valves had not moved and I do my air filter every ride. So I just put it down to wear and tear.

I want to see who out there has the highest mileage one now. I'm up to 6000 miles and a little under 200 hours
