Sunday May 1, Millville, NJ Round 4, ''The White Tail'', of the Northeast Off-Road Championship Series. Nothing beats a summer day in the sand and scrub pines. NEOC had access to private property that allowed a 9 mile loop thru some of New Jersey's finest. The 11 am 'C' race lined up with 228 riders on a very small starting grid. Andy's 'C Light' class, which had 200cc 2 strokes and 250cc 4 strokes, had 45 riders in a double row start. We kept an eye out and when allowed, parked his machine mid-row, front row. Knowing the race was 1.5 hours, gas was not going to be a problem. Pretty much fire it up and run til you're done. He got off the line pretty good and was 4th or 5th when the trail tightend up. After the leaders came thru they announced it was going to be a 5 lap race. Some of the track ran thru an old orchard/nursery. There were these 1/4 mile drag races, a sharp turn and another 1/4 mile drag race...Very interesting... Here's a couple of links to lap times for the class and overall. Actually he was 52nd overall on the first lap and ended up 13th...A little better luck with slow riders on the first two laps or an extra 1/2 hour would have made things interesting. In class/lap...7th, then 3rd and then remained in 2nd and charging hard...just ran out of time. Overall/lap...52nd, 35th, 21st, 14th and finished 13th... Anyway...2nd in class out of 45 and 13th overall out of 228, we'll take it... Not a whole lot of Huskys at the race...He turned a couple of heads! Special Thanks to...Toy Tech Cycles, KB5, Cycra Handguards, Gaerne Boots, One Industries, RK Chain, Wiseco, Pistons, EVS Sports...And of course...Cafe Husky
Great job Steve, I know it's alot of work keeping up with all that goes into racing a series or two. I guess Andy gets some credit too, you guys are going to have great memories of these days. Where you been practicing Gary's? are you getting the itch to ride yet?
Thanks... This weekend we are heading back the Jersey for the next round of the AMA National Hare Scramble Series than off to Indiana the following week for the GNCC. We've been doing most of the riding at the house, a short but good practice track. Lacrosse is almost over, so evenings during the weekday will be better. Have tried to get down to the Smith's below Hanover to ride with the big boys as often as we can. And because it's close, would love to get to Gary's once in a while and set up a couple of small woods loops to hammer. As for me...a little trail riding, but not much else. What about getting to Gary's for some ''training''? You and him on the track...Sounds like fun! Anybody else going to either of these races?
