August 4, 2013 Gun club property near Catawissa, PA. Had a decent rain on Saturday, certainly won't be dusty but pretty slick in the rocks at the particular track. Around a 10 mile loop and the lap times were right around 30 minutes for the fast guys, 4 lap race. The whole crew was along again, good support! Signed up for 'A 4-stroke' and would be on line 4 for the start. Off the line good; even after the rain this guys field had some good traction…had to back off to set it down and got slipped under at the corner, but second into the woods. Came thru the 1st lap in 4th and down over a minute and a half to the leaders. The rocks and him just did not get along today. He pushed and said he was down a couple of times and still never improved his time at all and really fell off the pace. The two front runners checked out and put on a great race to the end. Link to results...http://www.ecea.org/ecea/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=125 Ended up 4th is class for day and 30th overall. Maybe we should have headed north to the gathering and worked on his suspension settings with Fred and Drew! Interesting point…after it became apparent that he was not going to set the world on fire I started wondering about gas consumption. 2 weeks ago his run time was 2 hours on the button. Since he had a good lead I gassed him with 1 gallon. When we got home and drained the tank we got a gallon and a half out. After some calculations it seemed he could run almost 2 hours, 50 minutes on a tank full. So…this weekend instead of gassing him I let him go. After 3 laps his run time was 2:04 and his low fuel light was not on. I sent him back out for the last lap…at race end his total run time 2 hours, 50 minutes and he made it to the truck. Haven't checked to see what's left, but I will. Previous race; depending on exact mileage maybe 19 mpg. This race if it's empty and depending on exact mileage maybe 18 mpg. All this is under the assumption that the tank does indeed hold 2.25 gallons, never checked. Thanks to the Sponsors! Hey pahusky, I grew up in the Sunbury area. You were in my old back yard. Good info on the mileage, we run around 10mi laps so its good to know I can go w/o stopping for gas.
Great riding and good reults. I wanted to come up but ZTR said my suspension won't be done until Friday and Brad couldn't go up either because of work I was looking forward to coming up just to watch and meet you guys but couldn't make it happen. Are you going to to the enduro at Rocket this weekend? I still won't have my stuff back in time but I think Brad is heading to that one so hopefully I can tag along.
