Hey guys...the manual for my new WR125 calls for Castrol A747 for a pre mix engine oil.... Any other suggestions as the A747 is hard to find....? My local shop has Spectra SX2...

    http://www.spectro-oils.com/?p=235

is this ok to run? Also the manual does not say what ratio to run for a the breaking period and for how long to run it. As well as what ratio to run after the break in period.....unless I missed this info somewhere? And for that matter it seems as though the manual for my 1999 WR250 covered servicing the bike in A LOT more detail than the 2013 WR125 manual....?

Last question for the night: what about gear box/tranny oil? local shop suggested this:

    Thoughts?

You will get many, many different answers on these topics. What I run, and what works for me is

    40:1 break-in, and normal
Use Amsoil Dominator Premix (any good oil will work fine)
Use Rotella in the gearbox. roughly $15 per GALLON at walmart.

    Good luck!

    The book actually says:

    LUBRICATION
Engine .................... 4%(1:25)of oil-gasoline mix during running in; NOT LESS than 3% (1:33)when running in is over

But I'm running castrol tts in Aus

I run exactly the same and have been for years. I run the same mix in all our 2-stroke bikes, weed eaters, leaf blowers, chain saws, hedge trimmers, and pipe saws.

Just use a modern oil for use with power valves.

What I don't get is why the recommend ratio is 33:1. Thats a lot of oil.

For somebody that's WOT all the time that's not a lot. More oil won't hurt the engine.
