I made a tools for pulling my flywheel, it's tight and not coming easy. Heat an option? Done a few but this one is a bigger bitch than my ex wife.

Searched hi and low, is only 22mm 1.5 pitch bolt and some light machining. People make tools often. Might just make a better version, maybe spend $10 this time.

Guy at the shop said use the rear axle as the tool, better to invest in making another tool. But it's tighter than most. Will have another crack at it soon. Bloody cold out there. Not many old husky so in town it seems. Missed a ride tomorrow with the guys but it's coming along ok..will be a blast to ride. Reshape and cover seat and new ignition coming, got everything I need for a big couple weeks. Might u tube some of the jobs for a laugh.

It's all done and measured. Needed more power as I forgot the true quality of this Swedish bike, made to exacting Italian measurements running a Spanish ignition. New ignition on the way from Belgium Monday. Been saving 6 months.

Ohh standard replacment or something hopped up?
Just to clear it up if anyone reads this thread heat and magnets do not go very well together.
The flywheel has magnets in it if you intend to reuse then please dont heat it up any just use a flywheel puller.

Is an aftermarket system for now anyway, with lighting and it's switchable from mild to wilder. My stator is fine but quoted $300 to rewind and the system I'm buying works out cheaper than that delivered. Looks to be a very easy install as well so will give it a go. Mates all away riding this weekend and I'm sitting here waiting..but given me a chance to bleed brakes and lube chain etc. hope it goes smooth from here, next step could be supermoto conversion if it's possible for a bike this early.

theres some pretty sweet husky sumos from the 80s running around on this site so i dont think your year will be a problem. especially since you have good lighting output now.

If it's from HPI, I hope you have better luck than I did.

Looks like you're well on your way to restoring your bike back to it's former glory, great stuff. Keep up the good work. Also keep us posted on how you fair with the HPI ignition. I was about to pull the trigger until EagleFreek's thread (very helpful), now I'm a touch apprehensive. What are your flywheel taper specs? Being a '92 I also have a motoplat ignition, curious how the measurements compare to your '91.

I'm now rethinking my purchase. Just wish I could find the bits for a decent price. I need Cdi, and coil for motoplat stator is perfect. Want to ride it soon, it's been a long time coming. Thanks guys for the heads up. Might still do it, if I can't get parts before I lose my shit and need to ride it. Will check taper in the morning, he sent me a drawing of measurements.

Did a very quick measure and it tapers from 18.5 to 16mm around 17.5 centre. Using a very worn plastic vernier but hope it answers the question image.jpg image.jpg

I've ordered a complete second hand cdi stator and coil made by pvl to replace the motoplat. Cost the same as buying Hpi but less risk and pain I hope. My motoplat stator is still good but the rest is knackered.

Thanks for the information. It appears my flywheel taper is different, I have the specs written down somewhere but can't locate them at the moment. For me the stator and coil are the culprits and sourcing a known good original is next to impossible. I'll make a decision on what direction to head with it one of these days until then it's nice to look at :(. Good luck with your bike, keep us in the loop.

You need to measure the length of the taper, also.

I'm happy to check if I measures correctly. If my stator will help let me know..my measuring was complex using plastic tools.
