Check out this vid. http://vurbmoto.com/videos/crazy-racing-dominican-republic/16458/ It's Jeff Alessi racing in Dom Rep. Let this be a lesson to all of those who may be considering the Laser-Gate like antics of Jeff Alessi. Pull a stunt like that and you too will find yourself racing in Dom Rep.
Human fence is just old school. I remember that it was reported there were a million spectators at the 1972 Elsinore Grand Prix. It was a total thrill to go wide open down the paved downtown sections and see that human wall on either side of the course, held back by no more than waist high ribbon. And that didn't hold them back. People would duck the ribbon and run across the course, just like I'd seen them do in "On Any Sunday". It was a great experience that I will never forget.
Might be old school, but is still pretty stupid in my opinion. A 200+lb bike and rider traveling at those speeds will do quite a bit of damage to spectators if it veers off the course. Not to mention the distraction to the riders.
that video is plain scary. now this one is very funny: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVpWzvv6lBs r
I like that they can go watch a race without needing to go tailgating, and buy expensive pass, and sit 300 feet away in the bleachers.
And, that short video, shows that the idiocy of Jeff, continues. Back to Lasergate - I'm amazed that I've not heard of legal action, against TA, with regards to the sorts of things he came out with, on the Pulp MX show. If I was DC and Co, I'd be taking him to task, through the legal process, after the sort of accusations he made. Perhaps, for the sake of the sport, he - DC - / they may have just decided to let it pass.
Little scarey here ..what if he slides on over here? -- Not an MX course I'm interested in riding on ... But quite a race anyway ... Looks almost like a mini-Washougal (-HP hill) with those high speed jumps with packed corners ...
ahh but if your the rider your only concern it how the bike fairs from an off. they stand there its the risk and thrill of the event.
Did you ever attend or watch a MXGP??? yea they have "hurricane" slat fencing , but the spectators just line the fences and in the old days they would block and throw things at the guys they did not like. http://rx.iscdn.net/2013/05/51180_carousel-pic.jpg
Thats a cool pic ... Check out the boots and fingers on the rider and the fans are just looking around like it's Sunday at church ... It's home to them ... Is that the Rocket?
