A friend has a 09 te610 which he dusted the engine on a few years back (because the breather running into the back of the airbox was not pluggeed in ).

He had it professionally rebuilt and after a few rides (1000k or so ) the top end started getting noisey (Loose vales, we figured as expected after a rebuild). We took the head off and the the intake valves where way out of spec, we had to use nearly all the adjustment to get them close to spec.. it almost seemed like the rocker arm was bent or something was not right. Put it all back together and after a short ride it got really noisey again.

Anyway a busy life got in his way and the bike has sat collecting dust. Today I saw a sm610 07 motor came up on ebay and could make a good donor or parts source if he needs it.

    So a few questions ..

Any ideas on why his valves keep coming loose ? (worn came lobes?)

How easy may it be to swap out his motor with the older carbed motor ?

Some people have experienced a excessive rocker shaft wear.
As far as the engine swap goes, the only issue I can think of is the wiring harness. There were I think some differences in connectors and of course the FI/TPS wiring.

Thanks mate that seems to be the issues, a bit of googling backs up with you say, he had a full rebuild done but maybe they did not swap out all the top end ? will look into it some more.. if he picks up this spare motor cheap it might be best to just keep for parts as opposed to swapping out with his ..
