Hey everybody, I just bought a used PWK 38mm Air Striker to try on my WR250. I understand you need to use the curved cable guide on the Mikuni to do this. However the PWK cap does not have any threads to attach the Mikuni cable guide to. Do I need to purchase an additional adapter to do this? Also should there be any sort of gasket or seal between the cap and the carb body? Thanks! PWK conversion.JPG

Yes, there should be a rubber gasket under the cap and you'll have to get a threaded cap or a cable for the bike the carb came from.

You could also make a threaded bushing for the cap you have and use the Husky cable.

OK thanks, so do most of these carbs have a threaded cap that the Mikuni guide fits right into?

A ktm cable is a direct fit so you can do away with the elbow if it makes life easier, and is slightly longer for more routing options

Yes, a threaded Keihin cap has the same threads as the elbow.

Thanks Motorhead. I just got back from Carb Parts Warehouse, they're 5 miles from my house. Got the threaded cap and gasket. I'm going to install it with a 42 pilot and 170 main for starters and see how it runs. Here it is with the new cap mated to the stock throttle cable. DSCF0296.JPG DSCF0297.JPG

wordof warning, make sure you carb and cable work perfectly before heading out. Ensure the cable casing is not clamped to the frame, i accidently did this and the throttle sleeve jumped out, throttle then got stuck wide open on a tarmac stretch of road... it was very interesting to say the least as to what happened next :D

BTW: What did the carb come off of?
