Here goes ----- can/will someone post up pictures of the right side rear number plate mounting bracket for the 82'? My 81' 430 has the left number plate mounted to the silencer (and the upper shock mount) and the right hand side is mounted to a very small bracket welded to the frame (and again the upper shock mount). With this mounting system the back of the right side number plate is contacting the shock reservoir and rubbing the anodizing off and the aluminum itself. It seems that the 82's had a larger/longer bracket for the right side number plate mounting which gives more clearance between the shock and the back side of the number plate. I'm trying to increase the distance between the back of the number plate and the shock to reduce/eliminate this contact and wear. I need measurements for the bracket (width, total length, measurements to the "bends" of the bracket and approximate angle of the "bends") and the mounting location on the frame.

    Thanks in advance, Rick

R u running after market or nos side panels? reason i ask is the remakes are flexier and rub while the originals (if can be found) are stouter and stand off a bit.

    Leftcoast,
Not nos or the originals - my take-offs are garred upped, the upper shock mount holes worn/tore out and they have been drilled in several places for past mounting.
I ordered a set of plastic from Phillip in AZ for my rebuild. Great components. Sturdy w/ good lines in the manufacturing process. I am very happy w/ them. I have seen the newer models (82's ?) which have a larger bracket to keep the panels from rubbing shock components. I was trying to match those brackets to alleviate the current rubbing issues and just need to get some measurements/pictures.
