I'm looking at a 2000 or 2001 te610 and was wondering if someone could answer a few questions for me: Are engine parts readily available? It smoked a little and had some top end noise that I think was probably the cam chain (seems like a common problem). I'm not afraid of wrenching a bit, but I don't want to have to chase parts. Is the cylinder in these bikes plated with nickasil or something similar? I see wiseco and pro-x make replacement pistons, but only in a couple of sizes. What are some other things I should be looking for? Thanks in advance!
There are TE610's and TE610's - Some are the 'Original' 610's - Some are the TE610e Between the late 90's to early to mis 00's there were aproximately 4 variants of the same bike, not including MX and SM. Main question is: Does your bike have an Electric Start?
No electric start, just a kicker on the wrong side. I ended up buying it by the way, I just couldn't resist!
Yeah, I rode it a little, and chassis wise it felt great. It felt a little down on power though. My daily rider is an xr650l with a hi-comp piston and a hotcam and I think it would out motor the TE in it's current state, which I don't think should happen. Here are some pics: Still looking for answers to my initial questions. Thanks!
