done around 55 hours on 125/165. oem front sprocket hooking pretty good, rear starting to wear a bit also so am gonna lash out soon for new chain & sprockets. oem is 13/50 was thinking maybe try 12/50 as its a cheap way to change gearing(have a new 13T on shelf already so can always swap back I spose). does this affect chain life at all going around smaller front sprocket? will it still do 80kph(50mph) easily without screaming its head off for transport sections with that gearing? 52T rear just seems like it would be massive & prone to damage(50T looks big to me!). im aware of how to calculate ratios but just wanted some real life experiences. cheers people

I run 13-52 and have on all my bikes, never had an issue with sprocket damage.

12 tooth front wears the chain quicker and also the swingarm slider.

Changing the FS down 1T was always a big change to my bikes ... Top-end felt cut across the entire RPM range and the bike REVed much quicker making for quicker gear-shifting also ... Changing the rear sprocket always had much less effect on the engine feel \ REVing characteristics ..

1 on the front is equal to 3 on the back.

Ha ha, I figured, I was just pointing out that 3 on the back is a big leap. I run 13:51 on my YZ125 but big long technical hills require staying on the pipe and doing some silky clutch work. I think 13:51 on a 144 would be the sweet spot for me but that's on a YZ (trans ratios may vary)

I just rebuilt a Suzuki 144 kitted bike for a kid and stock gearing was 12:50. That bike was awesome to ride!
