My Tm only has 17.8 hours on it but did discover a few things. Steering stem bearing did not have any slop but felt a bit notchy. Called Mike at Cycleplayground. Great guy who talks to you and seems pretty up on TM stuff!! While they do come with and SKF bearing (funny thing is it says TM racing right on the darn bearing) and you can not get it from SKF!!! He said for what ever reason the dust seal or whatever lets some moisture in and the bearing gets a little rust on it. Which makes it feel a tish notchy when turning the triple tree with no forks or anything on the bike. I took apart and greased them. better but not perfect. A lot of guys including Mike put a Honda kit in the bike which will last longer I am told. That is what I will do Tid bit number two. On 250 two strokes the plastic water pump impeller can fail and spin on the shaft. You know what this means and what will happen right? Not GOOD!!! Keep at least a spare gasket and possibly a water pump impeller on hand. I spoke with Pete and they only keep one on hand at all times so it is not a big problem however I have heard of enough failures to warrant having a ten $$ part laying around! I am going to check every 25 hours and replace if there are any signs of where. While working on this bike (2012 TM 250MX) I get a strong sense of pride from a small company that cares. In a world of inferior companys buying out other companys and plastering false names on this and that it is refreshing to work on this bike!!! No testing yet but first ten minute impression. Sounds NICE!! Engine is strong and smooth fires up on first kick. Good flywheel effect as the MX models I believe have the same lighting coil as EN models. ( I installed 50 tooth sprocket and will see soon if I want to go deeper) engine crawls down low and does NOT stall easily! But will boogie when needed! Clutch pull stiff for a juice clutch but you do not have to pull all the way in! Seat height fine for my short 5 foot 7 frame. Bike is LIGHT do not quote me but I think 216-218 dry!! And believe me much much lighter then a new generation Gas Gas!! Another quirk I was told about. This bike was not even ridden with the stock clutch plates. For 12 I was told the stock plates are not good for some reason and they were replaced when new with Honda CR clutch plates. Ergos wise this thing feels pretty nice and pleasant! When jumping from my 99 tm 250 to this the 99 feels like a dinosaur and the engine in the 99 may be faster or just so pipey that it feels that way. Lots more detailed testing will be coming if it will warm up and quit raining!!! For now I am stoked and really do not feel like I am on the dark side!! What a great story about even how this company started! One thing is for certain it is from Italy More tidbits soon............................

Thanks to my wife I.did.this with my.phone! One thing is for certain I will not hold back on the truth. If these bikes are junk or inferior in my opinion I will voice it. The fact that the.99 runs so well makes.me think it will all be.OK! Looking forword. To testing. Custom seat cover all new plastic and.custom.graphics ordered for the 2012!!

    Great bike!
Never heard the problem with the clutch plates, make sure they are soaked in oil! CR plates don't fit 100%.

Thanks so much. Yep one owner bike bought direct from Pete and shipped to mass. Mike at cycle play ground acted.as.a.broker between myself and seller and.went above and beyond in crating the bike! Guy.I got it from. heath. Has a garage full of bikes and mostly rides 450's. All stock foot pegs.suspension.49 tooth.rear.sprocket even. Grips.everything. custom graphics at Tim@s4mx.com real nice guy good price and gave me a racers discount. Seat 60 bucks at moto seat.com you call order anyway u.want. has late model.Tm pattern. No flywheel at stock but I read and heard.same as an model. Tank.same size as well but black instead of clear. Have no.clue if stiff or needs.revolve yet. From what I've read stock spring rates .45 front and a 5.2 rear shock spring. Another quick tidbit. mso is like current gas gas or Italian Husqvarna which.means does not say for off road use only! I may plate this.puppy! Also note MX frame must be same as the en as the stock an side stand will bolt right on. I was also told a yz pipe will work but power will.suck. that a scalvini is.the ticket. Will try to ride this weekend and give update. But thanks eberyone ! I am going to try and stick with it as I like the fact it is different . Not better but different!

I'd get the scalvini for it even if the exhaust sucked :). It needs the hand made pipe on the Italian bike

Yep getting a scalvini! Already has the silencer! One bad tidbit was told the aluminum tank will not fit properly and will wreck the seat base in record time! Safari males a tank but spend for what you get!

Why the heck doesn't mike at cycle playground know this? And I just talked to Pete and he said nothing????? I heard rumor there is one! Where did u order it from I need one to!! Darn thing should come with one!!! Tm tidbit. Did I say those darn blue rims look sweeeeeet!! Not so much sex drooling from the bike just a sense of a hard working small company that cares and has pride and a raw sense of toughness with a side of yea right leave me alone I'm hooked for the moment but let the testing decide the true fate of the off blue bad boy !

Another interesting thing about TM Racing is that they do so much in house stuff, minimal outsourcing. They make their slave cylinders, sprockets, wheel hubs as well as most of their engine parts and chassis parts.

Didn't they even make their own shock last year? Did they drop that in favor of established shock suppliers?

I have a Scalvini silencer on mine, wouldn't buy it again though, it's just not sturdy enough and the carbon end cap is just asking to be smashed (look great though).
Also have a DPR (Dutch power racing), cone pipe for it (just not fitted), looks trick when new but will rust in no time. Haven't changed it stock HGS is fine.

TM shock is great, works as good if not better as the Öhlins I have.
