Decided to make my own after looking around, video says it all. Time will tell if the Polycarb will last....I am using rubber feet to stand it off the radiator core, give air gap, stop chaffing and reduce heat. Considering you need about 160 Celcius to bend it I think it should live ok here...... View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlDFllBFNwA&feature=youtu.be
I'm sure the Polycarb will last just fine. Nice piece of work, too!! Love the easy clip-on and rubber stand offs. Taking orders?
My question is: This piece will not make up more temperaratura engine to cover the surface of the radiator? The terra Husqvarna is a motorcycle that was originally very hot with the original radiator without any parts that cover it. The radiator cooling fan on my bike is operated frequently. More than it should be correct. I love design and is pretty to look at.
I like it. How well does the poly stand up to rocks compared to a wire mesh? Cleaning mud out is probably a breeze. And the most important question, Does it come in candy cane red and white stripes?
Thanks for the kind words fellas. Orders...maybe...?? now that I have a pattern, which one took me about 8-9 hours to make excluding the CNC part. Clearance to guard is about 6mm, we can adjust this by adding more washers to the rear mount as Mr Husky did at the factory. Cooling - don't know yet haven't ridden it.....I don't think it will make any difference to the riding I do, even on slow stuff when the fan comes on I doubt the fans effectiveness will be changed....theres plenty of gaps. My bike (touch wood) has not had any issues at all in this department to date. Polycarb toughness. The odd stone and stick should not be a problem..... try hitting polycarb with a hammer and you will struggle to break it!. Colour red & white stripped, yes of course, but there is premuim Worse aspect - cleaning it requires front guard removal.....I could change this, but I like the way it hangs from the top, should it ever come lose it cannot fall off.
It is definitely lighter and prettier than its aluminium counterparts. Fantastic work Kiwiape! If you're going to produce more of those I might be interested too.
Thanks guys. Can I have a hands up on how many might be interested??. and I'll have a look at costings etc.
I like the moulded cutouts for the radiator fan mounts, but are the radiator fans identically mounted on all TR650s or done individually by hand in the factory (and therefore with some variation thrown in).
Good point, I have a 1:1 drawing I would send out for everyone to check, failing that you can drill your own holes.
