I have a 2007 TE450 that I got in March of 07. It has about 3600 miles on it now and last Sunday I was riding it in the desert, having a good old time, and when I got back to the truck, my left radiator had sprung a leak. Not where it was squished or dented, (just some of those little cooling louvers were squooshed) but in a completely undamaged area. The tube was just cracked. A flaw in the metal? Anybody else have a situation like this occur?

It is in the local shop getting fixed today. I'll get it back tomorrow.:applause:

I've got a stack of them. No kidding. All on the left side and all in the same exact spot (plus or minus .5 inches vert or horz...no lie). Sent to Mylers and got back..road many miles..leaks again same spot.

Keep in mind Husky does NOT make the rads...they are made by ALEXON and TOYO. I have leaks in both. I now carry a spare left with me for long weekends and races.

That's not what I wanted to hear.:banghead::censored: Maybe it's some kind of perfect harmonic distortion from the engine vibration or something, and it converges in that one spot.

Dare I ask what a radiator is going for these days?

I have so many I can't tell you what they go for..I now have a 2007 610 rad in my 2006 te450. I don't suggest that. Mylers does the best repair.
I have had EXTREME overheating in my unit so I dare say with some degree of confidence it is NOT the norm.

The shop that is fixing mine has a Husky rider who is in my local dualsport club doing the work. It is an automotive repair place, but they are known by all the dirt riders in the area as the place to have your bike radiator repaired. they come highly recommended.

My Husky is a blissfully cool running machine. While all my KTM friends have had to install little fans on their radiators to keep them from stewing and piddling all over the technical sections and hillclimbs, my TE has only overheated once in the middle of last July on a steep, silty hill run that went on for miles. Of course, it only has to lug my little frame around on it, but I know that some of the other normal sized Husky riders in my club haven't been complaining about overheating issues either.

Pack mud around the engine and hope to get to use ALL of 1st gear type of riding and then do that all day...it builds heat. Enough heat to puke out Engine Ice or lately Evans.

The going theory on the heating issue is the water pump moves too much water and too fast when chugging along with out air flow. One of George's Y pipes helps. My next step is a welded restrictor washer on the exhaust of said Y pipe to slow it down some more. A heavy crimp in the left side line with a hose clamp kept temps down.

If that does not do it I will fiddle with timing. Already jetted on the fatter side of life. BTW..I'm a clutch free rider most of the day. so that is out.

That restriction is the way to go. Did it a couple years back, and its worked great since. Barnum first did it. Then told GP and George about it.

I too have had radiator issues.

I ended up buying the oversize units from the UK. Cost me $800, ouch-but they really do work great. Fans have also helped out a lot.
New rads from Husky are $400 each!! Been there...

I think someone needs to get Fluidyne to make Husky radiators....

Or... get motivated and find a cheaper one similar, there has to be a bunch out there that cost less used.... might need slight modifications but that is a lot of $$$.

I wouldn't of thought that moving too much water to fast would induce heating? Is it because the hot water from the engine doesn't stay in the radiator long enough to dump heat and therefore goes back to the engine hot?

Get rich. Order 10 radiators, open a website, sell 'made in the USA' Husky radiators!

    http://www.alumrad.com/order.htm

I nearly did this couple years ago when i was building my rally bike. Far cheaper than buying a OEM radiator...seriously. Someone needs to do this.

Hmmmf. I took my radiator to a highly recommended local place on Monday and then picked it up on Tuesday evening. I paid 75 bucks and got back a shiny, straightened radiator....that still leaked in the same spot it did when I took it off the bike.:censored: Then I couldn't get the time to go back this week, so I will have to go back after the weekend, as the shop closed for New Years weekend. Now, I'll have to ride something else this weekend.

I thought that those shops pressure tested their work.:excuseme:

Bike is back and REPAIRED this time. I also picked up an aluminum Y fitting to replace the stock plastic T fitting that is attached to the main coolant line coming out of the water pump. I was told that it will help equally distribute heat and pressure between the two radiators. We shall see....

I kept having the radiator leak, after having it fixed twice(second time for free.) So I went down to the dealer to see what a new one would cost. I don't know who is charging you guys 400 bucks for a Husqvarna left side radiator, but they only go for about 97 dollars at my dealer. I'd rather buy a new radiator for just a little more than having the old one welded.

These babies do have a lot of engine vibe. I'm worried about my IMS springing a leak from it.

Wow Dirtdame, that is a GREAT price. You sure? If so, wish I had known.

I just bought one each, left and right side for my 2007 te450 from Hall's.
Their website price... $225 and $230 each.

And when recieved...price was exactly as listed.

I've read about all these prices being thrown out there.... anywhere from $95 to $400 each.

I can say for sure their website lists three different radiator part #'s and their made by three different manufacturers. Toyo, ( Japanese), and two others...can't remember but it's on the arts list.

Mine were Toyo's and the cheapest listed.

Side note: My OEM rad's had 10 vertical tube's ... the Toyo's have 8 tubes ...spaced a bit further apart to be the same overall width.

Not sure if thats better, worse or no different in cooling performance...but thats what it is.

I had an Alexon on my bike. The parts fiche showed Alexon, Toyo and KTM listed as part numbers. Pricing was right on the fiche, both cost and suggested list. All three radiator makes showed as the same price. I ordered an Alexon, since that's what I had originally.

Well, the radiator I ordered back in February finally came in yesterday. Still retailing for around 97 bucks. I haven't had any more problems with the welded one, but it's nice to have a spare.:p

This is extremely important information because it is easy to damage a radiator. Could you tell us a bit more about how you found the part numbers of the radiators? You mentioned parts fiche, would that be in the parts manuals from Halls?

Do you have any other information like what part number you ordered (and received), where it was ordered through (husky dealer?)?

I found the company site, they are based in Thailand but have some reps in Italy, Usa, etc.http://www.radicon.co.th/main.php
