Took the radiator out today. Not the unbolting type method ether. Does this share a radiator with the G650GS? Googled, but nothing concrete. The part number is 8000H5220 and the cost is 358.75 from KTM-parts. Maybe someone has one? I'm in the market. I'll take it by a radiator shop tomorrow and see what they can do about it.
Just out of curiosity, does it have a thermostat inside? We were discussing its whereabouts in another thread awhile back.
The way things are for spares, its soon that someone will cannibalize a perfectly good tr650 and make a profit whilst undercutting the OEM suppliers by magnitudes. Indeed there would surely be some who would stock up on vulnerable parts.
I brought it in to see if it can be fixed, if not I'm more than likely going to have an aluminum one made. I'll find out next week. On a side note my Christmas present that was back ordered shipped today. CRASH BARS! oh the irony!
Just wondering if it's positioned in the tank between the inlet & outlet pipes? Is it open when cold & closes when the coolant heats up allowing circulation across the core (twin pass design)? If so, take this into account when designing your aluminium unit.
I'd have yours repaired if possible. You can run my coolant which is waterless, it won't corrode like normal coolant and only operates at 1-2psi. Should get longer life out of your cooling system.
Came across this yesterday. http://www.chaparral-racing.com/Pro...x?year=2013&make=HUSQVARNA&model=TR 650 TERRA
Tinken, I couldn't read the fine print on the XF+ coolant but I assume that it is also an anti-freeze. Yes? Suitable for serious long term dual sport use, not just racing?
-40°F to +375°F, put it in once, never change it, lasts life of motorcycle. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/ziptys-xf-radiator-coolant.31244/
The bottles are half gallon. Did you need that much? Most bikes like the 449/630s only take a quart, so a half gallon is plenty. Course if you have multiple bikes, that may work out for you?
Yes, for two or three bikes if it goes around. If not, I'll order more. The TR650 is the one that seems to run hotter; the fan comes on when climbing or doing tight trails. The WRR and TE630 less so but on occasion..... I will be doing a 5000 mile plus trip this summer on the WRR and that will be a good test for me.
