My idiot light flashes when I turn the key on, but won't alert me when I'm out of gas. Twice now I've run out of gas. Doesn't the ancillary fuel cock supply 3 litres of fuel? It's a knob that you can turn clockwise or counter clockwise. I've turned it both ways and can't get the ancillary cock to work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thx

Are you talking about a 610 or 630? On the 630 both fuel cocks are supposed to be open all the time. I am not aware of an auxillary fuel cock on the 630. I haven't ran mine down that far yet but it is my understanding that when you're almost out of fuel the warning light comes on, afetr that you have about 10 or 15 miles left before pushing is required.

I have a 610 and the warning light isn't coming on. I've fiddled with the ancillary cock, but nothing doing! It's threaded and can go full clockwise, full counter clockwise or anywhere in between.

On my '06 carb'ed TE610 there was a small guage wire from the fuel petcock to the computer guages. That wire is famous for being brittle and flexing to the point where the wires sever. If your 610 has the same
sending unit design, I believe the petcock wire is the culprit. Should be able to solder it but better to drain the tank and pull the petcock first (although I wouldn't LOL!). Burns are nasty! Don't try this at home etc.

I checked the wire at the fuel cock and it's connected. Of coarse it could be broken somewhere down the line.

I have the same problem with my 08 610. I figure it's a bad / loose wire. But I can't find the wire.

What about the ancillary cock? Do you know how it works? Thx

It should be screwed all the way down. It's on the left side of the bike.

I hope I don't run out of gas again to find out. I'm getting around 150 mi on 2.5 US gal. That's about how much fuel it took both times I ran out. I'll have to go by the mileage.

Thats what i have always done. Once you have a bike for a while you know how far it will go. Set the trip meter and run it.

If I do run out, I'll try the ancillary cock all the way counterclockwise.

I have the power up mod and get 200 km per tank. The most my tank will take is 11.5 L of gas

I ride on the streets 100%. I would think off-road eats up more fuel. Is the power up mod for EFI?

Yes, it's a Leo Vance can and resistor. You take out the header Oxygen sensor and plug in a resistor into were the Oxygen sensor plugs into the Bike. If I have this right, putting in the resistor is supposed to remap the Bike in a "power up" mode.

I was getting over 230 km per tank before the Power up kit.

Hey, when you refer to the ancillary cock, are you referring to the tap located just below the tank?

If you are, all the bikes that I've had usually have markings by the tap, ON, OFF and Res... during normal riding you use the ON option, and when the bike dies you switch to Res.

If however your bike is EFI, I've just hit myself in the face with a spade, and you're welcome to have a good laugh XD

It's a knob under the left side of the tank that screws clockwise or counter clockwise. It was turned all the way clockwise, but I tried counter and different points in between and I couldn't get it started. Mine is an "06" SM610 carbureted. I'll check and see if I can find ON, OFF or RES.

    Hope you didn't get hurt!

    Thx

    I have the same 06 610.

If the left side won't flow fuel when you unscrew the cock...you can lay the bike on it's side and pour the gas over to the right.

I'm sure there is plenty of gas in the left side.

Yes... Those petcocks are actually just a crossover to get fuel to both sides of the tank. There is really no "reserve".
