125-200cc Re-filling front forks with hydraulic fluid

I had a hydraulic leak on my right front fork of my SMS-125. Having read some of the posts - decided to check the oil seal for muck. Lo and behold plenty there and got some fork rebound back after cleaning. However......Is there a special technique for refilling the fork with oil? I have read that you need to compress the fork prior to filling to try and elliminate as much air as possible from the system.....Does anyone have a dumb and dirty technique that doesn't take alot of tech kit - as I don't have any!
