So the time has come, the Florida Trail Riders 2012-2013 HS series opens this weekend in Bartow. The 300 is as ready as it can get, me probably not so much, lol. Planning on a nice little 2hr trail ride, helmetcam vid to follow..............

Thanks, HBD did the graphics. The chain is in it's pre-race oil bath. That's an Up-Tite skidder, I'm hoping it'll fit a '12 if I'm able to get one.....

What gearing you gonna run on the sprockets? That 300 should pull some ~tall gears without too much given away on the bottom side ...

Kept the 48 on the rear & put a 14 on front, don't have to worry too much about our 30ft high hills here in Floriduh....... I throw the 13 back on if I go anywhere else......... Oh, and I gotta laugh at my fender grafix, the one by the seat is supposed to be Billet Racing Products & I didn't catch it when I approved the set..... lol I'll get Ronnie to make another one......

Yep, yep, & not really........... I just had the dents taken out of the pipe & shot it w/hi temp paint. Will maybe powdercoat later. Stock forks w/stock springs & just me playing w/oil levels, they feel MUCH better than my '05 KTM. It rained for 7 hours at the race property overnite, might be a sloppy one, but this stuff usually drains pretty quick, we'll see.....loaded up & ready to head out...............

Well, I survived. It was hot & muggy even by Florida standards & my zero fitness regimen worked out just as expected, after 2 laps& 1hr 10min(plus I rode the practice lap, so that makes three) I was DONE. But the 300, wow what a marvelous beast. I didn't stall, didn't fall and it pulled me through some of the roughest Florida terrain I've ridden in a while. My class was on row 13, 39 of us old farts, 50+C. Got my usual 4kick start & started my lap of passing practice. Quads ran yesterday & 7 of the 10 miles was on stuff they tore up, challenging to say the least. Didn't do the helmet cam bcuz of the mud & numerous low branches & face slappers, so I'll get clips from some other guys vid. Overall a good day, didn't tear up the bike or me, and know what I have to do & learned a lot about the bike. I can hit stuff on this bike that would've scared the crap outta me on the orange thing, lol. photo.JPG

Great news on no injuries and no bike breaks ... And some clips of the track would be great also ...

In my limited racing, I tend to get a bad start but that just makes for some cool passing along the way :)

And that's a cool looking bike now!

FTR HS #2 Strickland Ranch hosted by DaytonaDirtRiders- Hey there, race #2 finally got done. Rain (5")on 10/06 made our parking lot unusable for the 13/14th. We were able to utilize another club's cancelled, because of rain, date on the 27-28th. Hurricane Sandy made things interesting on Friday afternoon by coming within 3 miles of the race property before making a jog to the east Friday about 8PM. I think the chrome from the Hardleys at Rossmeyers(Destination Daytona, one of HD's 100,000+ sq ft showplaces)blinded Sandy just for a moment, lol. Ended up being a good weekend of racing, only real injury being an Evo rider on Sat being thrown off & receiving a beat down by his KX500. Here's a link to the GM-A rider's helmetcam

RD 11 was today in the Dade City area, where Chad Reed has his US home. Recent rains made an almost perfect course, with very little dust but not much mud. First time racing with the Lectron & in hindsight should have leaned it out more. I did actually get a 1 kick start, but you can see from the pattern in the above post I seem to finish solidly in the middle:D There's too many guys in the "C" class that drop their sandbags after the halfway mark of the season. The course included a LOT of fast field sections, including a portable speed trap sign from the local authorities so ya could see how fast you were going!! But other than not cleaning out on top the Lectron worked very well, pulled from way down low & refused to stall. Felt good & wasn't really worn out after 4 9.5 mile laps(1:39min). I'll get it sorted out & ready for round 12 in two weeks which is a notoriously brutal tight & muddy course. Will get some pics & vid up soon......

I can't believe I missed these posts. Why do you choose to race the 300 over the 310? Just curious is all. Make sure you get that video up quick :)

Hey there LoM, I ride the 300 cuz it's race ready. The 310 is the new one & still have a few things to do before I throw it into the mix. I'll probably use it if I end up going to the LA NEPG round. Just checked the lap times, there was only 5min18sec between 1st & 13th in the Master(50+)C class. Pretty close for a bunch of slow old farts....

After reading some other posts about hard starting I think I need to check my bike for a bad ground. Just doesn't want to cooperate sometimes

FTR HS#12 was today, on a tight tough 9 mile course. The Apollo Club uses some of their enduro trail. No rain in forever meant a LOT of dust but a good steady wind made it somewhat bearable. Had 15 on our line & got my normal midpack start, but a guy stalled it in the 2nd corner right in front of me so I headed into the woods next to last:doh: Spent the next 2 laps working around people when I could see where I was going, laps 1&2 went good but on the 3rd lap I hit the wall & had a hard time keeping my speed up. The Lectron 300 worked really well today, stalled it a few times(my fault) but actually started IN GEAR 3xs. Ended up getting 6TH:banana: Now I gotta go to the last 3 events to try & rack up some points, may even pull out a year end award. Pics to follow.

An A rider just posted his Garmin info from the race, heart rate & all that stuff. The elevation change for the course was 7ft, no that's not a typo. 7 freaking ft.
