Was doing a quick scrub and check of the bike when I noticed this wear on the rear shock for the first time. Looks like it's rubbing on the spring... Anyone else have this happening? Cause for concern?
Yeah they happen if you want a cheap fix for a year or so i cut the front innertube and made a shock sock to protect it a bit more, espesially required in muddy conditions, the rubbers starting to perish now but still have plenty of tube left.
It's hard to get in there to check but there is definitely some clearance between the spring and the shock. Rock makes perfect sense. I'll keep an eye on it but I'm willing to wager that was it. Thanks,
I have similar markings and I had a rock wedge in tight. I had to break the rock with a long screwdriver and hammer to get it out.
The poster is in Portland, Oregon, USA!! More than likely wouldn't know Terry Hay from a jar of peanutbutter. :-)
However Google "Terry Hay Shock Treatment" might give him a clue - Terry Hay is the the Guru who sets up majority of successful racers, GP, Superbike, MX, Enduro etc etc Shock Treatment Home Page www.shocktreatment.com.au/
Did he make something for your Terra? I have to go & pick up some fork seals & bushings from him this week so I can talk to him about it.
He did 2 new rear shocks for my ZRX, plus all the work on my Terra Shock & Forks, he's been doing all my suspension work on all my bikes for over 15 years (maybe longer) I have great regard for him & his work At some point l will get a new shock from him
There are better, less expensive motorcycles than the Husky, so I suppose it is all about preferences and options. I myself would be happy with a decent progressive rear spring on the current setup. For the front, I have no idea. Once the hot weather gets hear I have to tear the fronts apart anyway because of the clunk. At that time I will figure something out for that as well.
