Guys, Have any of you found a better tool than the OEM wrench for adjusting the spring preload? I have a hell of a time with that tool. I found out it's very soft and easily bent so it won't engage properly. Any suggestions welcome, there's got to be something better. For reference, I'm using the wrench from the incredibly complete OEM tool kit.
I picked this up on the local dealership. I'm not sure it's ideal and may return it if either of the diameters aren't even close. Motion Pro shock spanner
That should work, but you won't really need the small end and I like the longer handle: http://www.bikebandit.com/manuals-t...rcycle-hand-tools/ohlins-shock-spanner-wrench
Is that the one you use? I saw that one while searching online standing in the shop. It didn't mention any diameter sizes so I didn't know if it worked on non Ohlins shocks. I might just order it up also, it's hard to have too many tools.
Mine doesn't have any branding on it, can't remember where I got it. It's fit all the full size bikes I've tried it on so far and similar to the Ohlins.
Easier tool is your hands Clean thread. Back off the locking ring. Rotate the spring which ever way you want the nut to turn...it will/should grip the nut enough to rotate it. No need for any more than spray cleaner and or brush, a screwy or drift, a wacking tool to unlock the lock nut and your bare hands. Try it.
I always use a long screwdriver and a hammer. I bought my Terra second hand and the tool kit consisted of the right angle Torx wrench which means it's almost complete!
...you lost me? this thread is about the Husky 650 so unless yours is different, they don't have lock nuts or threads...
I tried this, doesn't fit, it's too big and the wrong diameter on both ends. The OEM spanner works better if can keep it straight.
