Rebuilding shocks

So my right side shock has been leaking oil, and I think I need to replace the seals. I have had the shocks on my 05 CRF250X apart, and re-done the seals, but you need a fork seal driver that I don't have for my husky.

I am thinking about having my forks rebuilt by a professional, since I have heard that it really makes a huge difference. I live in Temecula CA (southern california) and am just curious what my options are, who I should get them rebuilt by, and what it would cost to rebuild them. I weigh about 170 and have a 4gal IMS tank on the bike. I normally ride with a 25 pound vest when I have all my stuff loaded in it and full of water.

Not sure what I should have done to them. Any advice is appreciated.

OK, so I think I can find a few places that can rebuild them, but who would you recommend as far as who can work with me, (someone who hasn't really had experence in suspension) in getting what I hear described by some people as "a whole new bike". I have read that Les is the man when it comes to Husky's but I need these back by the Baja ride over the 13th, and with shipping time, I am not sure he can do that. I am going to give him and Percision a call tomorow and see that the price difference is.

there are a number of people who can do the job. good news have come in from work done by Les at ltr, FBF has some stellar reviews, the factory service center in valencia , Ca does fork work, also race tech are capable and the are in corona. some people are using a inexpensive gun case to package the forks and ship them. let us know what you think after you get them back.

I just sent mine out to Les at LTR today. I'll give you an update when they get back. I sent the rear shock as well.

I talked to Les, and I think when I get back from Baja, I'm going to ship mine off to him as well. We discussed my riding, and weight and such, and I am confident that he is the right guy for the job, and he is much cheaper than most well known shops down here. Let me know how you like it.

Well I was reluctant to send my stuff just out of fear it wouldn't make there or back but after looking for somebody in my area I figured I didn't have much choice. Plus I have heard nothing but great reviews of his work. I talked to a couple different shops in the Bay Area and most had never worked on the Zokes so that sealed it for me. I talked to Les and based on just talking with him I knew he was the go to guy! Have fun in Baja!!

I was about to take my forks to Les, but I have been super happy with the rear suspension. The forks are pretty plush, but has an initial "pang" when I hit something sharp. Anyhow, I blew a fork seal and took them up to Tasky's and he knew exactly what I was talking about and what they needed...new fork seals...lighter oil...slightly lower oil level and a slight modification of the shim stack (?)...WOW...I really need to take it to my usual rocky spot, but I can feel a big difference just with the little I have ridden it.

As you know I was leaking on the left leg during the Baja husky ride. (maybe not) The seal is totally blown out now. Well I called my local dealer, you know Uptite, George doesn't have the 50 mm seals right now but I think in his forty years plus of Husqvarna owning, selling and riding I think he knows what to do. I will be dropping them off on Monday for the rebuild/seals they need. As he was talking to me and telling me about settings, oil level, weight etc. etc. etc. I knew he was the right guy to do the job. All that and I just drop them off and pick them up, no shipping needed. Now that is service. I just need them back by the first week of March, he said no problem.
