Hello all. I recently purchased a 08 TXC 450 and want to have the suspension done. I've never removed the forks or rear shock before on a bike always had the dealer do the work. Is there a how to thread on this subject?

Don't think so but you can check Thumpertalk. It's pretty straightfoward for the front, a little involved for the rear.
    Front-
-Place bike on a stand in a spot it can stay for a while. Center the bike's weight.
-Remove the front caliper bracket holding the front brake onto the fork leg-two bolts. Disconnect the bracket holding the brake line to the fork guard.
-Remove the plastic fork guards. Put the bolts in a plastic Zip-lok bag and tape to the fork guards.
    -Remove the front wheel.
    -Remove the headlight.
-Loosen the four bolts on the triple clamps that hold the tubes in place. Use a large screwdriver to slightly pry apart the clamp as you pull down on the fork leg. I will use a tie-down from the handlebars to the ceiling so I can give a good tug. Someone can hold the bars for you as well.
    You're done.
Rear-center the bike so the rear wheel can drop down with out the bike falling.
    -Remove the seat and tank.
-Disconnect the wiring to the tail light and battery. If nervous, tape and label each wire so you know where it goes.
-Loosen the airbox clamp holding the intake on the carburator.
-Remove the frame guards by the footpegs. This gives access to the rear subframe bolts.
-Loosen the bottom subframe bolts and remove the top subframe bolts. Plce in Ziplok and tape to frame.
Pivot the frame out of the way.
-Remove the top shock bolt. In bag or back in frame.
-Move the wheel up until you can remove the bottom shock bolt. Wiggle and remove the shock. Don't be shy.
-Check the US Husky site for parts diagrams for your bike. they have exploded views that make it a lot easier to understand.
    Good luck:thumbsup:

Taking them off is the easy bit, refitting them is the point when some fall.

Make sure all the bolts are the correct way around in the rear shock, I have seen a wishbone worn through by an incorrectly fitted rear shock TC250 06.

The forks, when you fit the front wheel, tighten up the cap and pinch bolts on the Fr LHS leg, leave the RHS pinch bolts loose, work the front end up and down to align the fork bottom on the spindle (it will move to centre itself). Lift the bars, if the forks drop smoothly then tighten your pinch bolts, if they dont drop the leg is stuck on the spindle, pump the forks some more.

Dont swing on the pinch bolts like a gorilla and dont overtighten the triple clamp bolts. You can squeeze the fork tube!!

Drew at WER can set your TXC suspension to a very high standard, he did Scott Summers' last year!

Thanks for the replies. I spoke with WER and I'm just gonna bring the bike there. I Don't want to mess it up before I even get some dirt on it. This is a great site. The TXC will be my third Husky. First one was a 88 WXE?250. Then a 05 TE 450. Both excellent bikes. Hope this one is just as good.
