I assume I need a large allen to unscrew the axel on my WR300? If so what size is it so I know to buy at hardware store on my way home? I unscrewed the 4 stanchion bolts then started to scratch my head as the manual says then simply "unscrew axel from opposite side" but doesnt mention anything about size, wrench... nothing. I have a tendancy to force and break things. From what I can tell its a large allen but....?

12 mm and you will have trouble finding one. You'll find 10 or 11 is usually the limit at most stores.

A good solution (after you get the 12mm hex off) is to replace it with the Cafe Husky special. http://www.cafehusky.com/forums/showthread.php?p=66384#post66384

a double ended wrench to use on front and rear axle nuts and the Uptite Axle nut 15mm, a standard size.

I tried and failed to find a 12 mm at Sears and Kragen and a few hardware stores. Finally got one in a fairly nice hex set but still went to the Uptite later.

Yes, the 12mm is tough to find!

Unless your local hardware/auto places stock more stuff, I didn't find a 12mm at Lowes, Sears, Home Depot, Advance Auto Parts, NAPA, etc. Finally found one at Northern Tool. Promptly replaced the stock axle nut with the one from Motosportz.

The first time I took my front wheel off I used a bolt head with a pair of ViseGrips. (head of the bolt was 12mm) Then I ordered up Kelly's front axle nut from Motozports
Here's a picture from his site.

Just use a 12mm hex head bolt and a pair of vice grips, clamp the vice grips on the threads and use the hex as the wrench, I've had to do this before, just make sure it's a bolt you don't want to use anymore.
I bought a 12mm that fits on a ratchet wrench, the only one I could find was a 1/2 drive

Some nice hi-dollar, hi-bling solutions here.

Try this, a little less savage than the Vise-grip solution, very compact (fits easily in a tool pouch) and costs somewhat less than a buck, yet works superbly. The washer just needs an OD around 14-15mm, tighten up the nut to the bolt real well and use a drop of red Loctite.

As cheesy as it sounds, I have a chisel set that is the exact size hex stock, so I slide one in backwards and put a 12mm wrench on that. ;)

You can buy 12mm 1/2" drive sockets individually on amazon.com, that's where I got mine.
