I don't plan to have baggage or passengers on my bike. So I was thinking of cutting off the bracket that holds the passenger pegs. Has anyone done this? I was thinking of cutting at the circle in the picture.
I think the only thing it would affect is resale value. I would imagine the majority of potential buyers would plan on using the brackets for a luggage attachment point. I mean, this is no dirtbike.
You would be committed to a solo bike. Do you have a new seat in the works? I may remove the pegs at some point but will leave the frame supports for attaching things, and if I ever do wish to go 2 up. Just do a nice job if you remove em. I imagine a hacksaw and file and some paint could do the job. If you make a good clean cut close to the frame, you can save the parts to be welded back on for the next owner should there be one.
It would be personal preference. Unless you are good with metal work you could definitely see the frame has been hacked. Can it be done? Like Mag said can be done fast and easy. Fast and easy will make it looked hacked. Highly doubt you will match the paint and metal frame on the bike when finished. Blending paint is an art and you would need to make precision grinds to match the tube frame. Most times when you cut into the frame it would need to be bare to make it look right. Does look like you can disconnect the part of the frame you are talking about then work on it away from the bike.
I would loose the peg (save it) and leave the bracket. I think the bracket could be useful for things like using a peg packer in the future for a long ride.
