Guys starting to get the 630 ready for the spring. I want to remove the passenger pegs asI only ever fly solo. What have you guys used to take fill the space left on the lower mount ? Did you just cut the peg back or did you fill it up with a spacer / loads of washers ?
unbolt the stems and forget about it? or use the points to attach a canny toolkit on one side and an aux fuel tank on the other (beware the exhaust!)?
It's at this point here where when the footpegs are removed the bolt is too long to re-attach ? Am I being an idiot ????????
My bolt wasn't too long to just thread all the way in... i had to push my overflow bottle hose out of the way, but i kept the full-length bolt. Your other option is to go to Ace or Lowes and find a shorter metricbolt. Take the original with you to get one the right size. As a side note, I ride alone 99.5% of the time as well, but I put my pegs back on about a year ago. They sure make great body/exhaust sliders and saved me a bunch of money. Got a new set for ~$50 from a member here after completely mangling the left one in a 50mph low side. Only damage was handguard, sliders and the left passeneger peg.
ah that explains it...... i think.. my bolt was only threaded at the bottom half with the top half being without thread. looks like i'm searching for a couple of new bolts.
The stock bolts will work and then use a locknut on the inside to keep them put. They like to loosen and fall out.
What he said. The first time you crash out the expensive side of the bike you'll put your buddy pegs back on. I've been thinking about removing the footrests themselves and mounting slider pucks in their place.
