Has anyone had any experience of using a coil made by PVL which they say can be used as a replacement for a Motoplat coil? I am rebuilding a Husky 390 with a Motoplat stator which seems to measure ok but I do not have a coil.

Motoplat coils appear on ebay every now and then but can reach quite a lot of money and there is always the chance that it will turn out to be unusable or cost a fortune to be replaired, so I have thought about using a brand new PVL coil.

Has anyone tried one of these coils? Or should I just forget the Motoplat altogether and save up for a bit longer for a complete replacement ignition system?

    Thanks

I'm in the same situation as you are. I've decided to install a fully programmable system that runs on battery until I can find some motoplat parts for a fair price.

It's the upper coil I need. I have the stator and rotor on the end of the crank, and it seems to measure ok according to the figures on various websites I have found.

Please see PM about your coils, thanks.
