125-200cc Replacing gear selector shaft.....how much work involved?

Hey,

I've been having a problem where my gear selector pedal has worn the teeth away on the selector shaft.

I bought a new lever to see if that would clamp on better but its still the same, so i think i need to replace the selector shaft.

How much work is involved in replacing this shaft? Can you access it by removing the clutch basket? Or do you need to split the crankcase?

Has anyone made a step by step guide of a gearbox breakdown or something similar?

If i were to take it to my bike shop how many hours work do you think would be involved?
If the engine needs taking out i will do that myself.

Any advice appreciated!

You can access the selector shaft by removing the side cover, quite an easy job. It is not nessecary to split the cases.
You may need a new side cover gasket to reinstall the side cover if the gasket tears.
Any 2 stroke selector levers from 95 on should fit.
