Been in contact with David at REXXER in Yorktown VA. I plan on delivering my bike to them by end of the month for custom mapping that will hopefully give some much needed improvement. I get down there for work so this will work out fine. I am hoping that they can also look at eliminating the immobilizer part of it. He will need the bike for a couple of weeks so hopefully won't be long. I was going to post where I read about the need for a donor bike but for the life of me I couldn't find it again. The TR650 forum is growing by leaps and bounds which is awesome! More to follow
That is great news Toyboy. I have been posting it around now for a couple of months, here and ADV. I emailed David yesterday, was going to send him my ecu, this week, but if you can get him the bike, that is better. If something changes, please let me know.
Sounds good. I plan on getting it there as soon as I can. Will keep you posted on progress getting it there etc. Thx
Do you or have you talked about them figuring out the ignition and maybe remapping the timing? Toyboy you have the perfect bike set up for them to really tweak our bikes. Thank you for giving up your bike for a couple weeks. Very interested to see where this goes. Does Rexxer use a dyno?
No problem. Glad to do it but thanks. I think Mag00 has set all the ground work so I haven't really gotten into the specifics other than to ask about the immobilizer. David at Rexxer said he would not know exactly what he can do until he gets the bike in hand. I am hoping to get it there as soon as I can at this point. Honestly don't know about the dyno part but cannot imagine that he doesn't or at least have access to one. Somebody else have an answer?
Toyboy, are you planning on bringing the stock exhaust with you so he can possibly look at the stock configuration as well as your single exhaust?
good question. I will offer to bring stock exhaust and air cleaner element as well. I will be allowing him to do what he needs to like disconnecting PCV etc. I will bring up stock versus modified. Thanks for input.
We're in good hands. I never asked if they had a dyno, I figure it is a given. You have to excuse me if I don't make sense, just got home from surgery and feeling fine. Rexxer does this for a living, it is their specialty, and they will make it as perfect as they can. I have no doubt. Speaking with them, they have knowledge, experience and really great enthusiests. I invited David to this topic thread and hope he pops in. We all love our babies, and I know how reassuring it is to hear directly. To address the changes or mods and custom maps. All you do is send that info to David and he creates a map for that, and dyno runs sure help. That is included in the price of the unit from what I understand. A stock dyno run in Demver will not be the same as one at sea level, and as I have possibly mention, he has done this a long time with many bikes, and once sees our map, can formulate a good one based on real world experiences, even without a dyno sheet I would guess.
Sounds great. Great endorsement and looking forward to an awesome remap. Looking at his website I have no doubt of it. I am trying to co-ordinate something with work that will get me down there sometime between Weds and Thursday next week and drag the bike down.
Are you still on for this timeline? I'm a healin fast and need to get out and conquer the sand monsters. I was concerned about an ecu getting lost in the mail, but my dealer says a new ecu is $700+, so the insurance is not real bad.
Dropping bike off tomorrow actually. Just confirmed today. Bringing both exhausts and yes he has a Dyno on site
That is so awesome. Say Hi to David and the gang for me, I doubt he knows me by mag00, but by Dave DavesBMW.com (yes I need to fix the site) If you can, please ask about the immobilizer off as part of the supplied base maps for Rexxer purchase. I'm not sure if he knows about the Strada and the ABS, might help the Strada guys to let him know. Take pictures if you can. Thanks so much, can't wait!!
Ok, will do gladly. I am interested in deleting the immobilizer more than anything so no worries, will definitely ask.
Toyboy if he does dyno runs can you see if he will include the graphs for before and after. That is a great selling point for them to show what they can do but I am sure they are used to proving results. Also if he says breaking into the ignition and changing the timing is going to take a while I vote we do a donation to get it done. I really want to see the bike completely tweaked to see what we can actually get since most of us are probably going to keep it for a long time. Just a thought
Toyboy does your stock pipes have the cats removed ? I would love to have a reflash that deleted the immobilizer, has the stock pipes decated and the foam airfilter
Update. Made it to Redline Ducati. They are an authorized Rexxer support center. Met with David who is a bike enthusiast for sure and was really nice and very receptive. I gave him my bike with performance exhaust and all my stock parts as well. My stock exhaust is unmodified so as it was delivered. His plan is set up 2 maps if you would. One for a completely stock bike and one for a performance set up (exhaust and air filter) like mine is now. Everything he is doing will be done independent of the power commander but will be PCV friendly and I will be able to use mine. I stressed the need to eliminate the immobilizer and he will be working on that as well. I asked about a programmer and his thoughts are that only advantage would be for resetting service codes etc. I gave him run down on the lack of or limited MOSS tools and that would definitely be a "sellable " feature so he will look into that as well. All in all I think things should work out great for all concerned and will keep posting as I get info. Thanks go to Mag00 for all the legwork!
