In 2010 a pro tips thread went nowhere, how about a phrase (or ten) from each member that will stick in our minds while we're out riding, racing, learning, teaching, etc. A lot of you folks have some good ones I'm sure! Roost is wasted real estate. Momentum at the bottom of the hill is what carries you to the top. Practice makes permanent. To finish first, first you must finish. How about it?
When you are in one of those tough, muddy, gnarly races! I say to myself! I think I can, I think I can! Then when you see checkered flag. I start saying! I know I can, I know I can!
“Be wary of old men on new bikes wearing old riding gear.” A fraise from my younger days after experiencing a particular sound single track trouncing in the Appalachian mts.
Perfect ice breaker for when you hook up with a riding group for the first time: "Anyone have any two stroke oil? ... No? ... Oh that's okay, I put oil in the crank case, I'm sure it'll be fine.", Or the alternate for the same situation: "Anyone know where the choke is on this bike? I've never ridden before, and don't know how to start it."
For racers "Ride it like you stole it" "You can't crash fast enough to win" "Don't follow" "Chicks dig scars" "You must be fast cause you were hauling ass when i passed you" And whenever a fellow racer/rider is having brake issues "You don't need brakes. All they do is slow you down!"
