I just took the tires off my 73 WR250. The rear tire didn't have a rim lock. It has sharp steel points on the inside of the rim. They can't be seen from the outside. They actually made holes in the tire bead. They are Hi-Point aluminum rims. Below is a picture of them.
Was wondering if others had seen these. And also if I should still use a rim lock as well as the points when I mount my new tire.

If you have to limp out of the forest with a flat rim lock or plural help a lot. Not that I have had that happen much but a rear tire flat watched from the rear really does strange things.

I have the same pins on the rims of my 390 and am happy to use them without a rim lock. Quite a few guys here in the UK actually drill small holes in the side of rims that are not equipped with these pins and then use self tapping screws of a suitable length to secure the tyre.
