I am really pleased with the work Rod has done on my engine. It looks great and he kept the price very sensible considering the work it had done to it. There were holes in the cases that had to be magnesium welded and every part in the gearbox needed to be stripped and cleaned because water had gotten into it and caused loads of corrosion.

I just need to sort my ignition out now and my motor will be as good as new.

I never did suss out why the pictures on my restoration thread disappeared, but I will be putting more on there soon, hopefully this weekend.

I have been told by a very knowledgable source that I have the wrong stator. The resistance values are not correct for the stator that should be fitted to it. It probably works, but won't work with that motor. I guess maybe a previous owner had a problem and tried replacing it with a used stator, but unwittingly fitted the wrong one and never got it going again. Who knows for sure. Anyway, I may have found one, but if not, I will buy a complete new ignition.

Which Electrex ignition did you buy? Is it the internal rotor version? What size is the taper on the rotor, do you know? They have just added an external rotor version to their Husky range, so that might be worth checking out. Electrex are certainly good value compared to PVL or Power Dynamo (formerly MZB).

Bobby, I am sure I saw your motor when I was at Rod's last. If he breathed life back into that ..... wow ! Those cases were bad !

That was my motor Grouty. The cases needed welding up because of the holes from the water in the motor. You'd never know it had been done looking at it now.

yes its the internal rotor one. (stk-019) i had to send in my motoplat rotor for them to machine the taper . but all good.

Don't worry, it was my 390 motor that had the holes in the cases. But no holes there now :notworthy:
