PHX is over and done with. Could there be a changing fo the guard on the horizon??? Well, what do you all think? Some are doing the expected, right? While others, well, not so much. Gotta be honest, I saw Barcia making his mark in the 450 class before the season even got underway. Remember, he was called up to the "bigs" during nationals in 2011 and did quite well. Plus, he was absolutely killing it at MEC. Barring an alien abduction, Tomac is going to win the lights hands down. The only guy mounting a charge right now is K-Roc. He'll be close, but not close enough. He's just not as strong as Tomac. Very pleased with newcomer, Joey Savatgy, and his performance in the first heat. He gave the rock stars a real run. Will he be consistent? Dunno, but it's always good to see the new kids shine. The craziest thing of the night [to me] was Davalos' crash. He literally looked like a rag-doll being thrown. Glad he got up though. Funny how a Mitch Peyton bike can make anybody more competitive. So, who is everybody pulling for? In our house (w/the exception of the Mrs who loooooves Tomac and K-Dub), We're pulling for ZO338, TC41 and ANYBODY from the Temecula, Murrieta and Menifee Valleys.
Real interesting racing this year. Yes, might be a changing of the guards and the new kids taking it to the next level.
The top 10 does look a little different at this early stage but not really when you study it some and remember the last couple of yrs of racing ...I put stars by the only ones who look unexpected to me ... But not alot new really or changing ... Remember cream always rises to the top ... It did seem apparent to some of us that the 450 was weak last year and needed some guy to step up in the 450s ... What happened to Eli running in the 450s? ---- 1. Davi Millsaps 45-- *Mills is a new addition ...Hope he hangs on to what he has been doing... RV2 put him in his rear view mirror as he should had ... nothing new there ... 2. Justin Barcia 39 -- *TB51 is new and maybe he can hold on ... rookies don't win championships here very often so he has these odds to beat ... But he obviously he has some speed and will need to be dealt with as the season progresses unless he falters on his own ... 3. Trey Canard 38 -- was looking like a top rider 2 yrs back in his rookie season till his MX crash, followed up by the SX disaster ... His return was a wildcard and now it appears he is back to his old form ... Too bad on the last lap crash .. I can't say this is new 4. Chad Reed 36 -- cr22 has seen his best days also ... sorry but no real surprise on him ...Jackie Chan just explained he is getting old also and will stop his stunts to some degree... 5. Ryan Dungey 33-- * did not look so great last yr on that pumpkin when he won on a weaken field in the MX and finished behind RV2 last sx season ... I think his bike is holding him back ... But this is new 6. Jake Weimer 31 -- sort of new but not really ... He'll have to step on up to be considered something new ... 7. Ryan Villopoto 27 -- RV2 looked like his old self almost except for his front end wash-outs ... He has stated slow before and still won championships ... I still think he is the man to beat .. 16th place last week, 7th today ... RC3 pointed out during the race that his new fangled air forks might be sucking ... Only guy (I think) to run a sub 51 sec lap in the main... Only rider to come through the pack and pick off riders .... 8. Andrew Short 27 -- always runs in the top 10, not top 5 usually 9. James Stewart 27 -- has really been fading the last couple yrs and not a real surprise ... Looks like he is hurt currently or is content to just do some laps? ... I expect more from him later and he should win a race or at be on the podium ... It was nice to hear a race called and he was not the darling ... 10. Josh Grant 21 -- Ok ... --- The announcers and camera men did a fair job of spreading the action around except for JB51 out front of the race but I'm see that before and the guy in front is not racing so much as the guys behind him .. View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Sx85odr97E You guys might have saw this mug before but I hardly ever watch the 250s guys ... But I gotta put the JB51 pic from the interview out here ... He's one happy guy here ... Is that muscle milk any good? I really need some supply of calcium for strong bones ....
Ya, Muscle Milk is good. I use it for post-workout replacement. I buy it in powder form and use the "light" formula.
Tomac and a bunch of others are on the (Ryan Hughes) RynoPower supplements program......... me too, the users speak for themselves, disclaimer-my goals and fitness are not quite as high as those young bucks and fast vets. http://rynopower.com/riders.php
We ran into a bunch of RynoPower reps at Ride for the Cause out at Cahuilla last year. They gave my kid a bunch of free stuff and gave me a T-Shirt....which I gave to the kid. It's quality stuff, but for me, I try to use what I sell (I've got a small floundering biz on the side). With the exception of Muscle Milk Light (it's really cheap....cheaper than my protien powder) I use what I hock.
You just about have to replenish your body after hard work outs or your just gonna run your body down .... And on the same token, you need to load up before an event also ... I lived off CARBO stuff and rice and spaghetti when I was a runner for yrs ... But, you gotta do the work in conjunction with the supplements... this stuff just helps your body before and after the work ... Recovery and rest after the work is maybe more important than the work itself because without the recovery, gains will always be limited ... Here is what I use now ... cost about 25 cents a bottle ...Just drink it on the spot or fill the camel back with a few ... Saves deposit on the bottle that way ... Probably alot of caffeine in there
On ride days I'll make a shake (Shakeology meal replacement) and stop at Starbucks for my jolt but that's all the caffeine I'll have. I don't feel too good about having stuff that makes me jitter.
Caffeine tops out pretty quick really ...It makes my stomach feel weird if too much is taken on a low stomach ... Right after hard work is the time the body is ready to feed and load up ... I do a beer (or two) after a ride for pain but i also want some CARBS if I can find some ... Those type drinks Ryno is selling is what i always had on hand after a work out ...
Davalos... good Kid... but don't think he has anything for Tomac... and for the 450's anyone but Barcia...
