Read on another site that Husky is buying all remaining 09 250 TXC's in the warehouses. Why would they do that? I am looking at buying one. I better do it quick!!!

The 09 TXC250/450/510s are SOLD OUT at the Dist level.

Husky is pretty clean on non-currents right now. I just read that post on TT and it is possible. I tried to buy some 09 TE250s a few weeks ago and when I talked to RK, they had 50 in stock. I called him a week later and they all were sold.

While dealers blowing out bikes at below cost is great for the customer it is the demise of dealers and cheapens the brand as a whole. Everyone buying bikes off the Internet for less than the dealer can get them is only going to have an already small dealer base further retract. It's not a good situation, the dealers loose, the resale tanks and in the end everyone looses. My opinion. Yes, it is cool to get great deals but at what cost?

I know nothing of the rumor itself.

Can you say out of left field? Who said anything about cheap deals and internet? This thread was about a guy who wants a 2009 TXC 250 and that Husky might have bought up the rest of the inventory.

I don't think it cheapens it at all. Besides, it starts with the company to begin with. Husky is obviously lowering their prices to dealers so they can move these bikes. Too many 2009's with impending 2010's at the door step.

huh? the question was about lack of TXC250's due to the manufacturer possibly snapping up remaining models no? Dealers have been complaing about internet sales under what they get as dealer prices. Makes bikes impossible to sell at a dealer level and yes, cheapens the brand and makes resale plumet. Do you see blow out sales every year on KTMs or other brands? The manufacture needs to make sure it's dealer network is satified, it is where the rubber meets the trail.

I think you might have taken offense to this as you get yours this way. Personally i think it is great and would have jumped on the chance to do this as well. Jake got a great deal on his but still might feel ripped off from the dealer because he can buy a 09 for a lot less than his great dealer deal. Also made the resale on every TXC250 drop 1000 bucks. not good for return customers. See where it is going to really effect the dealers we love to go to when we need something? I'm making observations not pointing fingers or saying anyone did anything wrong. My opinion.

I think the orignal TT post was referring to the Autralian Husky importer buying the remaining USA stock. I'm assuming to sell the units in Australia where there's apparently a stronger market for the TXC's.

Again, it's a Husky/BMW thing. If Husky/BMW is worried about brand integrity and protecting it's dealers, they wouldn't give so many dealer incentives to sell them so cheaply and mandate universal prices. I think that BMW came in and plunked down a ton of cash to make all these new bikes (2009 especially) and they didn't sell nearly as many as they wanted to. Now, they come out with this all new generation 2010 250 four stroke that is heads and tails above its predecessor and NOBODY wants to buy leftover 2009 250's! Hell, your posts alone are adding to the 2010 frenzy. Why would I buy a 2009 leftover? AHHHHH, price!

Please don't speculate on why I might have taken offense (which I didn't) or where I got my bike. Since YOU brought it up, I got my bike at Heinen's, which Tasky's couldn't touch...didn't want to say that, but whatever. Hell, I wasn't even looking at getting a new bike for a couple of years and just stumbled upon the deal.

I really doubt that company's selling on the internet are offering bikes at lower prices than what dealers pay...how could they stay in business?

When I spoke with Heinen's, they said they were selling based on volume because of Husqvarna's incentives. True the margin is probably small.

David, I'm sorry i upset you and made some observations. This was not aimed at anyone just speculating around the original question. Heinen's sells for under what most dealers can get the bikes for and loosing ground in an already tight economy. Dealers will dry up and close shop in this scenario. Do I fault you for grabbing an awesome deal, absolutely not.

Interesting thread. The only reason I can think of as to why the mfg would buy the bikes back would be that it affects the sale of the new 2010 and or that the US dollar is so week that they make more by selling them outside the US ?

OK, OK, I get it. I did not mean to offend at all. Was just posting my thoughts on the original posters comments. I deal with dealers all the time and hear the same story, Internet prices slashed to under what dealers who floor and have overhead can get them for when all costs are said and done. Sure they might be able to sell for close to the same after jumping through all the hoops, waiting for a refund on the kick back, dealing with financing etc and then make $20 for all the effort. Not going to keep the doors open. Just sayin and again, no fault of yours for snagging a great deal. you did well I'm sure  repeat customer, love the brand etc. all good.

Probably a lot of truth there. US market has never been a huge money maker for husky as far as i can tell. they are making a huge push now and need to do what they need to do to make it work before they are another Harley or (insert failed MC company here). these are really tough times for anyone in the motorcycle biz.

Not taking sides at all. Both have merit. I would like to say, IMO, it is not fair to any other dealer who happens to be near you and not the cheapo price crate guy. What I mean is, You did not but it from me but I must handle any warranty issues? Need help tuning your EFI? you assembled it yourself and now claim I should fix because something "isn't right"? Also these smaller dealers had to wait for their newer model year bikes because they did not order 50 or so units in the first deal. (not saying there are'nt dealers who order/sell 50 out of their shop)
No I am not a dealer but have been on Euro bikes since I could ride and seen this behavior be the end of some of the best "Ma & Pa" shops out there that provide as well as any of the biggies do..just not as much. Remember the old saying of "get more flies with spoon of honey than a barrel of vinegar". I don't disagree with Husky Corprate moving the bikes to where they can sell them though....smart move as in the 09 vs. 10 250's. 1000 off at early year "Hero Deals" or 1000 off end of year is all the same....... still cheaper than orange and the japs and a better product.. thats all that really matters.

I agree with you for the most part, but this is an unusual time for Husqvarna and BMW...growing pains if you will. I would normally go through my normal channels to buy a bike from Tasky's and will do so in the future. I believe Husqvarna and BMW will hone in on price points, supply and demand, how and when they market new bikes when they have a large supply of leftover's and brand integrity in terms of who sells Husqvarna's and at what price...all pointing to a stabilized slightly higher price than Japanese bikes!

Makes perfect sense to make a package deal on leftover inventory to another Dist. who has the market for them. Why piece meal getting rid of inventory when you can sell in one fell swoop and in business cash flow is king as well so it kills two birds with one stone.

For the record, I wouldn't go to Tasky's expecting them to do warranty work on a bike I got from the "cheapo price crate guy." I wonder if Heinen's takes offense with that!?!? Do TXC 250's even have a warranty? That point is moot anyway because if I take my bike to Tasky's, I would pay as I normally do. I have dropped a bunch of coin there to date...2008 TE 450 (full price) and a ton of products and service.

What's fair needs to be discussed with Husqvarna and BMW. They set those parameters. If we don't like those parameters, we buy somewhere else...right?
