runing in time for 2010 te 250

hi everyone i just wanted to know how long it will take to run in my 2010 husky te 250 as i want to see if there is any power improvement by then. and does anyone know how much horsepower the 2010 husky 250s will have with the power up kit installed.

My dealer recommended 500-600 mi of mild break-in. Change factory oil and filter at 50-75 mi, then several more times with petroleum based oil before going to semi-synthetic at 600 mi. Keep revs below 6000 mostly but lots of up and down. Warmup for 3 min or so is typically a good idea.

My dealer inspected the filter closely at the first change, cutting it apart to see if there were any bits that shouldn't be there.

At 600 change to semi-synthetic put the the kit on and ride it. May have a throttle stop, air filter cage restriction, 02 sensor and connector, and cat in the exhaust.

Since you're in Australia you might hope some mates chime in here to make sure we're not voiding your warranty by doing things .... just don't know how it works there.

I was told they de-tune the 250's to under 20 hp for emissions. Probably around 33 hp or so when opened up. They have a competitive number when compared to other 250f bikes. They will still be getting better at 1000 and even 2000 mi from what I've heard.

Our 2010 TE 250 grows power gains daily. Has 250 miles on it 2 oil/filter changes and gets better every ride..

Oil doesn't need to be changed that often on a new bike. Change it at 100miles, then 250, then again at 500. The reason for this is to get all the contaminants out of the engine as it wears in, but that's why it has a filter and 2 oil screens. There is no magic genie that will destroy your engine if you don't put $18 worth of oil in it every 100 miles. At the FIRST oil change, go with heavy synthetic. I use Bel-Ray Thumperlube. I can show you pics of the engine with the outer case off after 42 hours, 1,100 miles and it looks like new in there. Changing oil 5 times before it hits 500 miles is just not necessary. It's more important to change it after a couple of hard rides AFTER it's broken-in.

There are so many opinions on oil and most of it is not wrong, mostly what has worked for people in the past. The older generation motors were great at holding up. This new engine takes 950cc with filter, and that is why I am going to change my oil often.
