running out of gas with 3/4 gallon left! help?

I have a 2009 te 450 and I run out of gas in 45-50 miles and still have at least 3/4 gallon left. Has anyone else had this problem. I am wondering if the fuel pickup on the pump fell off or moved or something. Can anyone Advise please.

Pull the fuel pump out of the tank and see if it's falling out of it's plastic retention clips. Many bikes are having this problem.

I had the same problem with my bike. You need to 'restrain' the pump w/ a ziptie or other means. Be very careful removing the fuel line from the pump. The fitting is extremely fragile.

Yes and do it now. I just bought a bike that apparently had been doing that for some time. It allowed unfiltered fuel into the pump and over time wore the contacts down in the pump motor itself. End result? $570 fuel pump. Is yours still under warranty?

Thanks for the info-- it was loose. Two zip ties and we will see if that fixes it.
