SALMINEN GETS MAIDEN VICTORY ON TE 250 The legendary Juha Salminen took his debut win on the TE250 at the first race of Italian Enduro Championship in Olbia (Sardinia) last weekend. The seven-time world champion was in second place after the Saturday's racing, but took the victory on Sunday, with team-mate and fellow countryman Matti Seistola finishing in second. In the E2 class Simone Albergoni finished 3rd and 4th, and was the highest placed Italian rider in Sunday's race. The efforts of Giacomo Redondi in the 125cc class were rewarded with two second places, while Alex Salvini – who made the switch from motocross to the Husqvarna TE511 for WEC and Italian Enduro Championship action – took a 3rd place in the E3 class on a TE511 on Sunday.
The Italian Enduro site referred to to Salminen as the Swedish rider......He finishe OA in P3, P1 in E1......also in another odd report the KTM news site listed the bike brands of all the riders (KTM,HON,YAM,FAN etc)but never printed the name Husqvarna next to all the Husky pilots (there is battle/war between KTM and BMW going on for a while now). PS Micheluz podiumed on his all new Fantic 250 2T, you guys know that they (FMI) run the Italian Enduro championship in foriegener(SP) and domestic classes concurrent ( I think to protect Italian pride...). Salvini retired E3 with brake problems and clutch failures (they reported succesive which means more than one, right?)
The Italian Nat enduro championship FMI system is in the 5 class (engine type/size) system, 125 2T is the under 23 Junior class. see 2010 example below, so Juha won the 250 4T class at 2011 round 1 but I believe he was actually 4th OA between stranieri and domestic riders. I CAMPIONI 2010 125 2T: Jonathan Manzi (KTM) 250 2T: Simone Albergoni (KTM) 250 4T: Thomas Oldrati (KTM) 450 4T: Alessandro Belometti (KTM) 500 4T: Alessandro Botturi (Husaberg)
