Looks like perfect weather out there. Probably going to head out this weekend when the forecast really gets wild.
Yes a full set of A Star gear,Sidi Crossfires, Airoh helmet he is one of our Italian riders (KTM250XCF).
Very cool pics. Did the Brazilian guy enjoy that rocky desert terrain ? I'm also wondering about that big boulder in the background of the group pic. Looks like one good nudge or a slight tremor would topple it. Mini Stonehendge.... how did it get up there ?
I appreciate your discretion not naming this area while posting pics. FYI this area is under BLM management but Rangers have notified me that currently open riding areas to the North/ East will be closing in the near future.
That's sucks on the closing ... Looks like some cool riding out there and how could anyone think that a 2 wheeler could ever do any real harm to an area like that?
Must not be very nearby. There's only a nine mile long area that is legally open to OHV activity. Outside of that is limited access and closed nature preserve already.
Oh yea they are looking to close areas to install more WIND generators......thats what I keep hearing.
Oh thats good, because there is no disturbing of the environment when they bring in heavy equipment and cranes to erect those monsters. They should install a solar array while they are at it since they too have zero effect on the natural environment.
According to the ranger, the only open riding area will be the day use area which is basically like riding in a parking lot. Not sure if it has to do with SDGE powerlink running through the valley or whacko enviromentalists agenda or both.
IMO the riding areas and even any public access are/is ending at a much faster pace in the past few years. I would like to go on...
Just got a report from a fellow rider. This area is still open right now (it would be really hard to close). Another nearby area was also still opened as of yesterday (Thursday). Not sure what the weekend will bring, but the BLM area will probably still be open.
I've actually been out in this area working on the wind turbines. Eventually California will pick up my off shore plan and they will make on shore turbines obsolete.
It's just like what's happening out in mission trails regional park. There were some cool rangers that allowed some new trails to get cut and sdmtb trail stewards to manage the area. As the riding became more popular, some idiots would ride off trail and burn across switchbacks.(why would anyone want to do that I do not know?) which lead to environmental studies of the flora and negative impacts by MTB etc. next thing you know the city of San Diego is taking over management of the area and are closing all of the trails except the most pedestrian ones. Now one of the best MTB riding areas of San Diego will be closed and riders subject to fines if caught. Total BS!
