I am trying to add my Scotts steering damper onto my 2009 WR 250 and noticed I have to get a new whole new bolt-on mount for this bike as I am a first time Husky rider after being a long-time KTM racer. By the way, I currently have the Scotts bar clamps coming from my previous KTM damper setup along with the stock KTM oversized stock bars as well. So, I should only need the mounting tower for attaching my damper to the post now. Anyways, I could not find any bolt-on kits (even on the Scotts website) for this particular model and now trying to find a weld-on / bolt-on tower from BRP (I only have definite access to a mig welder, but not sure about heliarc/tig welder) though. I also do not prefer the submount type of setup though and like having the Scotts above the bar for quick adjustments/looks. Thanks!

I have purchaced the standard weld on piece and made it work for an application where Scotts only showed the bolt on one would work. It was on 1999 te410 and took some grinding on the post but I didn't want to deal with the bolt on. I talked with Scotts support at the time I ordered it (from them) and they didn't argue with me about my choice. I know the standard set up is less expensive and that is what I got but have since decided going through rubber handlebar mounts isn't a good idea. The sub mount set up has less leverage on the rubber parts at least the way I analize the situation. As long as the axis of the damper is in line with the axis of the steering tube you are fine, I don't have any way of knowing if you can use the parts you mention, that too is the way I see the issue.

The Scotts Bar clamp that I have taken from off my previous KTM and onto my new 09 WR 250 does its on the bike like normal. Do you still think I should also replace the whole bar clamps as well? And does anyone have any links to direct me so I can hopefully make a purchase of the parts needed asap since I need to have something done by next weekend for racing!

BRP makes all of Scott's clamps, so I prefer to just deal direct with them and avoid the middle man.

With that said, they do make it. I have the BRP bolt-on post and clamps on my WR300 and they work perfect.
I'm doubting your KTM bar clamps will work though. Have you tried mounting them yet?

Thanks for the reply PC. That unit looks really great! And yes, I tried on the bar mount from my KTM on the Husky and it actually did fit.. I only really need the part with the post that gets connected with my Scotts damper in that picture from the BRP site. Do you know if they make an above bar set-up even with the bar mounts from that link or only the sub mount?

Oh.... I missed the part where you said you don't want the SUB mount. Sorry!

I've seen an 09' WR250 here in OR that had the weld-on post with the traditional (over the bar) setup, but not sure about a clamp on model. Call BRP and see what they can do. They made it happen for me last year even though there was no current offering.

Do you think this bolt-on tower mount from the 08-09 Husqvarna 4-strokes would fit onto my 2009 WR 250?

That should be all that is needed for me since the current bar mount fits on top of my triple clamps, etc.

Weld on mounts are better....no slip.

I cant say for sure, but it very well be what you need.

They weren't offering anything for the 09' WR's until I contacted them and sent in my triple clamps for testing. Call them and see what they can do. Or just post this in the BRP sub forum, so the owner can see it.
