Pulled out my needle, (250 hours on bike) and noticed about 1/3rd the way up has heaps of tiny scratches on the needle surface that you can feel quite easily. Couldn't get a picture because my phone wouldn't pick the scratches up, but the scratched area is about a 1/2 inch or so long. Is this cause to replace the needle and main jet or just leave as is. Bike is apart getting a new top end right now.
I would change them if it were mine. Is your needle not straight in the slide or bent? I have seen a off the shelf needle that was not straight.
Looked straight when I had it out of the carby. I wouldn't think that was the cause because the scratches aren't consistent.
