    An electric carving knife works well, y'know the ones with the two serrated blades going back and forth. Then shape it with a file chard- one of those wire brushes with the very short bristles meant to clean files. I've done a couple seats this way and it worked well.

    I have not tried but heard if you soak the foam with water, freeze it then hit it with an angle grinder and sanding pad you get a good result..
